Changes for the 2024-2025 School Year
Here's a note from your new principal for next year. Mr. Moody will be joining the team at China Middle School as their Dean of Students and Mrs. Ridgeway will returning to Sidney as the Dean of Students at the James H. Bean School.
Hello There,
My name is Liz Wakem and I am so pleased to be the Principal for China Primary School starting in July of 2024.
Education has been my career path for 25 years and I have been a classroom teacher in grades K through 8. I have also been a technology integrator along with a Distinguished Educator for Maine Department of Education. The past 5 years as a building administrator have been some of the most rewarding moments being able to meet, connect, and work with staff, students, and communities.
I will be announcing summer hours where families can stop into China Primary so we can create those connections before school begins. Stay tuned for those updates!
Thank you for your time and I look forward to meeting and working with you all.
~Liz Wakem
Updates from our PTO...
Its ON! READ READ READ and log those minutes. It's the China Schools PTO Read-A-Thon! Our school Read-A-Thon started on Monday March 25, 2024 and is sure to be a fun and exciting event. This fundraiser is really important to ensuring field trips and enrichment opportunities can exist for all students. We appreciate you enrolling your students, tracking minutes read, and sharing the fundraiser link on social media with friends and family to make sure this is another successful year! We are encouraging everyone who hasn’t had a chance yet to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. It should take less than 5 minutes of your time. Use this link below to activate your student's Reader account: https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/3538303638/1 Make sure to track the minutes spent reading! Wanna know why? CPS: the classroom with the most minutes read for this event will be helping to dress Mr. Moody, Mrs. Ridgeway, and their homeroom teacher for a TOILET PAPER fashion show, complete with SILLY STRING ACCESSORIES! CMS: the advisory with the most minutes read for this event will get a prize of their advisor’s choice- we can’t wait to see what fun chaos this could be. Maybe pie in the face? Getting slimed? Who knows! But we are pumped to see those reading minutes roll in and what happens next!! Thank you so much for your participation and support. Together, we can make this Read-A-Thon an amazing experience for our young readers! Thank you! Planning ahead: Next meeting: Thursday April 4th at 6pm on Google Meet - if you are interested in or would consider a board position, we encourage you to join us and see what we are all about in April! Our board positions are open and we will vote during our May meeting. Come check it out!
