Safety Patrol
FOR NEXT YEAR - WE'RE LOOKING FOR SAFETY PATROL - CROSSING GUARD MEMBERS.
For the month of May, we will be accepting applications from current 4th and 5th graders who would like to be on Safety Patrol next year. This is a great way for students to give back and serve our McBride Community. Applications will be in the office beginning
April 30th.
Art Literacy
This last round of Art Lit lessons were from Van Gogh. He's known to have said, "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." Kati Crouch brought this forward and she said it best.... "This is a Mustang quote if we've ever heard one." This can be our motto sentence after our theme TOGETHER.
TOGETHER.... Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.

Children's Mental Health Awareness Day - May 10th
May 10th is Children's Mental Health Awareness Day. To bring awareness to the importance of Children's Mental Health, Columbia Community Mental Health will be hosting an open house at our children's only facility, CCMH the Kid's Haven. The event will take place on May 10th from 5-7 pm. Community partners and families are invited. Some of the children's therapists from CCMH and GOBHI-WRAP will be at the Kid's Haven so community members can ask questions and become more comfortable with the importance of children's mental health. We will also provide snacks and offer tours of the facility. I've attached the flier below.

TOGETHER - Mustang Award
Our Mustang theme this year is "Together". Let's continue the recognition and thank yous. Each week we've enjoyed sharing the recipients for the TOGETHER award. Recipients receive this award because of the spirit of togetherness they've demonstrated to help McBride continue to be strong. You may nominate staff from McBride, staff from St. Helens School District, parents from McBride, community members from McBride/St. Helens - anyone that demonstrates working 'together' to help McBride continue to be the incredible school and community that it is. You may pick up a "Together" nomination form in the office or email Mrs. Tyler (lisat@sthelens.k12.or.us).
This week's award recipients......
Our friends on the Lewis & Clark Staff. We applaud and thank the Lewis & Clark Staff for presenting at the Board Meeting on Wednesday night. They presented beautifully the professional development and resources needed to have vibrant St. Helens schools. We appreciate our colleagues working together with us to make St. Helens community the best it can be.
McBride Staff - We had a situation on Wednesday that caused our staff to quickly work together to resolve a situation that was an immediate need. The staff dropped whatever they were doing and put out a hand to help. We have an amazing staff we can count on anytime.
Jeremy Howell - Jeremy Howell is our St. Helens Police Resource Officer. Jeremy has been nominated because he too, will drop what he's doing to lend a hand to McBride (and all of our St. Helens schools). Thank you, Jeremy, for being someone we can count on to help us keep our students safe.
Owen McCartney and Kim Hunter - Mr. McCartney (5th grade) and Mrs. Hunter (1st grade) have both had situations this week that they had to be quick thinkers on their feet to help students. We're so happy that these staff members are on our team!
Chelsie Orr and Debby Cade - We had Staff Appreciation a couple weeks ago but this nomination is special because we'd like to recognize our secretaries during Administrative Assistant Week. We do have the best and we're so appreciative of the work they do every day for staff, students and families. Thank you, Chelsie and Debby!
