Principal's Message
SMA,
The third pillar of our school is to "Learn Joyfully". Learning can and should be a joyful experience, especially when we understand the true value of gaining knowledge. As Paul said to the Collisians 2:2-3- "That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." We are truly thankful for our school community and for the students we serve.
May you all have a happy and restful Thanksgiving! School will not be in session from November 24th to November 28th. We will be back in session on Monday, November 29th.
** Please Saint of the Day (<click here) for next week. We encourage parents to review the Saint of the Day with their children. We also post it daily on our Facebook Page (<click here)

Dear Parents,
As a reminder, St. Michael the Archangel School is participating in the President’s Volunteer Service Award Program. The Award recognizes United States citizens who have achieved minimum hours of service over a 12-month time period, which for SMA will run from April 1, 2021-March 31, 2022.
Any SMA student who performs 26 (ages 5-10) or 50 (ages 11-15) or more hours of service will be recognized for their efforts with a pin bearing the Presidential Seal, a certificate, and a letter of recognition from the President.
It is an amazingly simple process - just keep track of service hours. A log is located on the VSL website at https://sites.google.com/view/smavsl/presidential-service-award?authuser=0 You MUST fill out the first page completely and include it with the signed log. Forms must be submitted to the front office by April 1, 2022. Due to the tight turnaround deadline, we cannot accept forms after that date. Forms may be turned in early.
If you have any questions, email Megan Morris at morrisfamily516@gmail.com.

It's BACK!! 2021 JR High Scholars/Quiz Bowl at St. James Academy
Mark your calendar and start building your team for the Catholic Schools Scholars Bowl tournament on Monday, November 22, 2021, at St. James Academy. This meet is for Seventh and Eighth grade students. Please join us!
Scholars Bowl is an academic competition that covers several subjects. There are 16 questions in each round from these categories: Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, Bible & Catholicism, Science & Health, Fine Arts, Foreign Language.
Teams can have up to 6 students (5 competing, 1 rotating alternate) who answer questions in round-robin competition against other area Catholic grade schools. You may enter up to 2 teams from your school, but please no more than 6 on a team. Check-in begins at 3:30 and tournament play begins at 4:00. The end time depends on how many attend, but usually ends sometime in the 6:00-hour. Refreshments are served at check-in. At least one adult sponsor from your school is in the room with each team, but (s)he cannot compete or actively coach during the round. Yes, parents are welcome to watch the rounds!
Email ebradfield@sjakeepingfaith.org (sponsor, Evan Bradfield) to enter or with any questions. Please include the name and contact information of the sponsor(s) who will attend with the team. When we receive your registration, you will receive a set of practice questions. Students on the first and second place teams will receive medals for their achievement and trophies for your school.
The SJA tournament is a fun challenge for young scholars and free for your school. Our goals are to get students excited about learning, to make new friends, and to glorify God in our studies. Come help us reach those goals together at the St. James Academy Catholic Schools Scholars Bowl tournament!
On behalf of SJA’s Scholars Bowl Sponsor, Evan Bradfield, and myself, we thank you for your interest and hope to see you on campus soon!
