We Did It - Week 2 of Distance Learning Complete!
Hello Bobcat Families! Believe it or not, we have made it through Week 2 of Distance Learning at New Lebanon. THANK YOU to all of our families who have taken the time to stop what they are doing and help us embark on this new journey. It would not be possible without you! We hope you enjoyed the "Flex" Friday and that it gave you and your students some time to catch up.
Starting on Monday (available at 9am, as a reminder), your students' grade level Google Doc that has your child's lesson plans will look more simple and user friendly. Some of the changes you will notice are:
1. Social Studies and Science will only appear one time per week.
2. Try to choose 1-2 Specials each day. Then, aim to spend about 20-30 minutes working on that Special’s activities.
3. There are PE (Brain Break) activities included 2 times per day.
4. Lastly there is a section called "Choose Your Own Extended Practice" which includes low stress activities such as virtual field trips and more - enjoy!
5. Next Friday, April 3rd will be another "Flex Friday" where students and families will have time to catch up on any work they may have fallen behind on during the week OR complete one of the "Extended Practice" Activities!
If you are still looking for ways to organize your family's day, below are a few resources we have pooled together. Click on each one for them to open!

Lastly, on Thursday evening, the Board of Education voted to modify the school calendar to have Good Friday off, followed by the Monday off. Then, Spring Break will be Tuesday through Friday as Distance Learning Days for staff and students. Please make this important change to your family calendar!

Families as Partners in Distance Learning - A Message from our Consultant, Patti Jomo
Parent-Teacher Conferences
We know that you have been extraordinarily busy working from home, taking care of your families while trying to support the learning of your New Leb children. This has been no easy feat! We have seen the measures you have gone to to communicate regularly with our school, and we want you to know how much we appreciate it. In light of that, we have decided to cancel our 2nd round of parent teacher conferences all together. This pandemic has taken us all by surprise and while we wholly value our partnership with parents, we believe this is the best way to proceed at this point. When we return to school we know that time will be tight and we want to ensure our staff spends their time planning and teaching our children to the best of our ability. We hope that you understand this difficult decision and that we can work together to continue our meaningful partnership and support an additional set of conferences next year. Please stay home and stay safe! We miss your children and look forward to seeing them again soon!
Report Cards
Below are links to log into your students’ grade level lesson plans. All future days will be in the same place for Distance Learning!
Click on each link to access your child's lesson plans for each day...these are the same Google Docs as you accessed all last week!
Check out the video below to see how you get to each day's lesson
Google Hangouts Meet
Google Hangouts Meet is activated for Greenwich Public Schools, and has been in use for the past two weeks across the District for small groups. Students/teachers must set-up an invitation to do a Google Hangout Meets session, and their recipient must click the link at the time/date of the meeting to join the session.
It is important to note that this feature makes meetings available to all students. Students should only accept Google Hangout Meet invitations from their teachers and ignore/block everyone else unless directed differently from the teacher. This will help ensure that this feature is used appropriately and safely by our students with an adult present. GPS is on Google for Education which keeps the features only within our GPS network.
GPS protocols for Live Video Discussions
Appropriate Clothing (The attire should be school-appropriate; This is to avoid a secondary student chatting in their pajamas)
Appropriate Place (The student should chat while at a table, desk, or learning space)
When online, mute the microphone until it’s time to speak. This eliminates background noise for all.
If the teacher utilizes a chat feature, a question can be asked while somebody is speaking through the chat.
If not using the camera, both students and teachers should block their cameras.
Meals for Families
Greenwich schools are providing free breakfast and lunch to ALL students 18 years and younger. Breakfast is delivered at New Leb at 9:20am and lunch is delivered at 12:30pm. The new Breakfast and Lunch schedule can be found here
Acuario Restaurants in both New York and Connecticut will be providing a lunch bag for the children of our community between the hours of 11am and 1pm and again between 4pm and 8pm. As a community, we want to help relieve one stress during these difficult times. Please bring or send your child to our locations during these times listed. We do not want any children in our community to miss a meal. Stamford Location: 78 West Park Place and Port Chester Location: 163 North Main Street. Again: hours for pick up are: 11-1pm and 4-8pm.
Neighbor to Neighbor - Food Assistance:
If you need additional food assistance for your family during this time, please reach out to our school social worker, Sandra Saavedra at Sandra_Corrente@greenwich.k12.ct.us.
Attention 5th Grade Familes!
So - in a fun turn of events, all of the WMS Music Elective forms you handed in for your child are sitting in a beautifully organized pile in the music room. Since we are unable to access them, would you please take a few minutes to answer the questions in this google form? We will submit your answers to WMS as soon as everyone completes the form.
Also, we may email you directly if we would like to discuss the choices your child has made for next year.
Everyone in 5th grade needs to fill this form out - even if your child is not attending WMS (you can click that as an option at the end of the form.)
We sincerely hope you are all doing well. Please send our best to your kiddos!
