Peoria Chief's Game (Permission Slips Due on Tuesday)
To celebrate a great school year, Tremont Middle School will take students to a Peoria Chiefs baseball game on Wednesday, April 24th. The Chiefs will be playing the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 11:05 a.m.
If your child would like to attend the game, please complete the permission slip that was sent home last week and return it to the office with $5.00 for the ticket cost by Tuesday, April 16th. There is also another option that includes a ticket, hot dog, chips, and a canned soda/water for $12.00. If your child does not want the second option, they will need to take money to the game for lunch/concessions as well. If you have any questions, please contact the middle school office.
Sleep Habits
As the seasons change, students may find it difficult to get a good night’s sleep on school nights. However, restful sleep is important for learning (increased motivation, better memory, smarter decision making, more creative, increased creativity), social interaction (better mood, greater emotional management), and overall health (stronger immune system, healthier appetite). Middle school students’ bodies need about 9 hours of sleep a night to fully support their growth.
If your child is struggling to get enough sleep, you can help them with some of these strategies:
-Throughout the Day- Be active, Reduce caffeine after lunch, Set a 20 minute alarm if napping
-One Hour Before Bed- Use the same routine each evening, Stop all electronics 30 minutes before bed, Change into pajamas, Do a mind-calming activity (read, craft, music, drawing), Make the bedroom cool, dark, and quiet
-Troubles Falling Asleep- Use a sleep routine starting one hour before bed for at least two weeks, Gentle stretching, Journal, Write a schedule for the next day, Prepare clothes/backpack/lunch for next day, Relaxing nature sounds or classical music, Listen to a sleep story on Calm, Visualize a relaxing scene

Melissa Little
Hello, my name is Melissa Little, and I am wrapping up my 23rd year teaching eighth grade science at Tremont Middle School. I am retiring at the end of this school year. I have been married to my husband, Jon, for 43 years and we live in Pekin. We have three grown daughters who are all in their 30s. Teaching has always been my calling, but I was a stay-at-home mom for the first 10 years of my marriage. I didn't begin college until my early thirties, and Tremont is the only place I have ever taught. I love to cook and sew and I am an avid reader. I also enjoy traveling. I have been to almost every state and Canada. Jon and I are taking an Alaskan land and cruise tour this August which is super exciting! Tremont has been my second home for over two decades, and I have truly enjoyed being a part of this wonderful community. My favorite color is purple, my favorite candy is Reese's, and my favorite thing to do on a rainy day is to curl up in my favorite chair and read.
Sarah Lee
My name is Sarah Lee and I am in my second year as an eighth-grade aide. Prior to that, I was a substitute teacher for 12 years, working in Tremont and three other districts. I have also taught piano students out of my home for 23 years.
I am a native of Arkansas, where I met and married my husband 25 years ago. After moving to Texas, our family grew with the addition of two children. We moved to Illinois in 2009 so Noah could accept the pastorate at Tremont Baptist Church. Our daughter Abigail graduated from THS in 2023 and is currently working toward a business degree at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Our son Matthew is a junior and enjoys playing in the jazz, pep, and marching bands. He is also active with Boy Scouts and recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
I enjoy working with students and seeing them grow and mature throughout the year, whether in the classroom or in my music studio. I also enjoy reading, working puzzles, and volunteering at church activities.
Rachel Manuel
HI! My name is Rachel Manuel. I am an interventionist at Tremont Middle School. I also work at the Turk Center each day after school. I have worked in education for nine years. I began as an ESL tutor for students who could not speak English very well. I am currently providing extra support for students who need help with language, reading, and math.
I have two daughters, Marina (22) and Amanda (25). When I am not at school, I love to do things with my friends and am very involved with ministry, as well. Something you may not know about me is that I grew up in Piracicaba, Brazil. I also LOVE pink Starburst and dark chocolate.
