Who you wouldn't want to get into a fight with:
Preston Brooks
"If I desired to kill the senator why did I not do it? You all admit that I had him in my power."
Preston Brooks strongly advocated for slavery and despised anyone who disagreed with his opinion. Charles Sumner was a victim of this hatred as he advocated for the freedom of slaves. Two days after giving a speech about why America should abolish slavery, Brooks found Sumner and gave him a piece of his mind and cane. Brooks repeatedly whacked, smacked, and clapped Sumner until he almost died. Sumner didn't die, but his dignity probable did.
