Tyngsborough Elementary School
September 29, 2019 Update
Our school is filled with happiness, excitement, fun and TONS of learning! Happy Fall!
2019-2020 School Council
We are seeking 2-3 parents to join this year's School Council. We will meet 3 times over the course of the school year. Meetings will be held at TES at 7:30-8:30 a.m. Please email kerry.cavanaugh@tyngsboroughps.org if you are interested in joining. Thank you!
There are four major areas of responsibilities for councils. School councils are to assist principals in:
Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
Reviewing the annual school building budget
- Formulating a school improvement plan/strategy for district improvement
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Student Information Form
Recently, an email was sent in regards to completing the Student Information Form. The information form, accessible through the parent portal, is used to collect items such as family information, emergency contact data, and medical permissions. It is crucial that you complete this form as soon as possible. Failure to submit this form will affect your student’s ability to attend field trips, participate in after-school activities, and receive medications from the school nurse.
Grade 4 Band/Sign-up for Learning an Instrument During the School Day
On September 20th, Grade 4 students (and Grade 5 students new to TES) attended a presentation by members of the Grade 7-12 Concert Band. All of the primary musical instruments were demonstrated with the goal of inspiring each student to begin learning how to play an instrument. Each student went home with a gold-colored registration form and letter containing information on how to get started in the Band Program. (Additional forms are available in the main office.) Instrument instruction/Band will take place during the school day. Interested students should return the registration form to their classroom teacher by Monday, September 30th. Band Information & Instrument Rental Night will be held in the TES Cafeteria on Wednesday, October 2nd at 6:30pm. Contact Matt Eaton (matthew.eaton@tyngsboroughps.org) with any questions.
Required Band Parent Meeting / Pie Throw at Mr. Eaton: Monday, September 30th, 6:30pm, THS Cafeteria
This brief meeting will include details of our 8th Annual Mattress Fundraiser on Sunday, October 20th. For more information--including a video about our fundraiser--please visit and share this Facebook link: http://bit.ly/ths4-12band
The company we are working with is donating $5 to the Band Program for every parent in attendance at this meeting in the Tyngsborough High Cafeteria on Monday, September 30th.
In addition, any Band student who attends with a parent will be entered into a drawing for the chance to throw a whipped cream pie at Mr. Eaton at the conclusion of the meeting.
Your attendance at the meeting--and forwarding of the Facebook link & attached flyer--is an easy way to raise funds for our Band Program. Please share the Facebook link & attached flyer via social media. Thank you in advance.

HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZA - Wednesday, 10/30
Please send in a $1.00 donation for our Annual Adopt a Family.
This year, TES will provide the opportunity for students and staff to wear costumes on Wednesday, October 30th - Halloween! In order to make the day a success, we have developed a few guidelines.
Most importantly, all costumes must be school appropriate.
All students participating must come to school dressed in their costumes. Students should not bring makeup or hair products to school.
Basic Costume Don't's:
Costumes may not have parts that interfere with learning. This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, or prevent sitting at desks. Costumes must not obstruct movement in the hallways.
Costumes may not promote violence or have accessories or props that could be used as a weapon.
We are looking forward to everyone following the guidelines, coming up with creative costumes, and having fun!
Friendly Reminder: Please do not send food or candy into school.
