Most Recent COVID-19 Communiqué
Please refer to the COVID Communiqué #8 sent out on Tue., 3/31 and Communiqué #9 sent out on Wed. 4/1. All COVID related updates can also be found at the bottom of the AIS homepage and the COVID-19 Information & Updates page. To summarize:
- AIS is currently at a RISK LEVEL 4 (HIGH RISK)
- The AIS campus closure has been extended through at least Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 in compliance with the state of Texas Executive Order GA-14. This campus closure may be extended.
- The AIS campus is closed to all outside rentals, vendors, and contacts through this date.
- AIS cleaning crews are completing a multi-week cleaning and disinfection process during the school's closure.
Playground Installation
We are happy to share with you that the playground equipment was installed this week. This was made possible from previous cumulative, temporarily restricted funds raised by the PTO, as approved by the community. Thank you to last year's Parent Teacher Organization for moving this initiative forward. We can't wait to see our students climb and play on it soon.
Distance Learning Week 2
We hope your child(ren) have had a great week 2 of distance learning. Here are some highlights of the week:
- CP worked on spelling, axial symmetry, and cooking tic-tac-toe
- In Science, our students studied the Pink Super Moon and made some amazing posters
- CM1 students enjoyed lunch (and made funny faces) with Ms. Emily
Progress Reports & PTCs
We thank you all for your patience as we've prioritized the implementation of distance learning, resulting in the late distribution of progress reports, which will be sent via email on Wednesday, April 22nd. We have greatly appreciated everyone's support and understanding with regards to adaptations and changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we understand that Parent-Teacher conferences are a very important part of our school community. We are disappointed that they will not be able to take place in-person this semester; however, in lieu of our regular in-person Parent-Teacher Conferences, please feel free to reach out to your child's teachers via email to ask questions or to seek clarification about any information relayed on your child's progress report after receipt.
Community Connectedness
We would love for you to share photos of your experiences and at-home learning. You may add a google doc with a quick anecdote or story, post a cool video, or upload family and student pictures here on our AIS Community at Home. As you share, we will pass some of it along here over the upcoming weeks to help us stay connected with each other.
Virtual Storytime
If you want to share some stories with your children, make sure to check out Ms. Audrey's reading of Crocolou aime l'école by Ophélie Texier, Mr. Jacques' reading of Me gustan las bibliotecas by Liliana Santirso and Martha Avilés, and El niño sin nombre by Idries Shah.
Enrollment
Thanks to all of you who registered for next school year during our early commitment period. This helps us significantly with our budgeting and planning. If you have any questions about how to enroll, reach out to Mathilde. For questions about your payment schedule, you may reach out to April and Sandra.
Save the dates
All school functions and events originally scheduled through the school closure (currently May 3rd) have been canceled. Some events may be reconfigured to virtual or moved to a future date. We will keep you updated.
