King's Highway Weekly Newsletter
Volume 3 Edition 32 4/29/2024
A Note from Dr. Miles,
Good morning Parents and Guardians!
Get ready, everyone! This week's weather forecast looks absolutely lovely! As the sun shines and the temperature increases, please be mindful of your child's attire for school. We have many clothing items in the lost as students take off their jackets and other clothing when they get hot outside. If you are missing items, please check the lost and found.
I want to make you aware of how focused, intentional, and hard the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders worked last week on the PSSA ELA sections. Each day the testing zone was quite conducive for the test takers to give their absolute best. I am extremely proud of their concentration and attention to the task. However, we are not finished. This week, is math and science (for our 4th graders). Please continue to empower them to remain steady and stay the course as they complete week two of the PSSA.
- Math: April 30th and May 1st
- Science (4th Grade Only): May 2nd and May 3rd
Just as last week, your child's attendance and overall well-being is CRUCIAL to their performance. This is where we need your help. In order for the students to do well on the test, first, they need to be here on time. Next, they need to get to bed early to be well rested each day and eat a healthy breakfast. We will be encouraging them in school to do their very everyday and we ask that you encourage them before them before they leave school. Thank you for supporting your child’s achievement and growth!
ABSENCES: YOUR CHILD'S PRESENCE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO US!
Parents please be advised that when your child is absent from school, you MUST have a note explaining their absence when they return. You have three days to have the note into the office. If a note is not received in that time, it becomes an ILLEGAL/UNLAWFUL absence. You may send the note directly to the attendance secretary Ms. Kenisha Archey-Cole at archeycolek@casdschools.org. Sending notes with your child may not be received as they may forget to give them to their teacher.
Thank you,
Dr. Miles

GRANDMAS AND GARDENING
Mrs. Pandosh’s Kindergarten class had some special visitors in her class last week. Kitty’s grandmother and great grandmother came to help the class learn about seeds and germination. Each student got to plant zinnias. They will watch them grow and get to take the plants home after.
