From the Principal
Welcome December! We are ever so hopeful that 2022 is a NEW YEAR with lots of positives! I sincerely hope that all our families had a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving and wish the same for the upcoming holidays later this month.
As we gradually begin to open after very restricted Covid-19 safety protocols, we will be holding the traditional Holiday Parties with our students on December 17th. Our students will experience hearing The Polar Express story and enjoying a holiday snack and small activity. This is a fun time of year for everyone, and we will make sure any student who wishes to participate will be able to do so.
Our plan is to open the campus to pre-Covid access on January 18th, the first day of the second semester. We can’t wait!! All temporary virtual learning will have been terminated and we are SO happy to have all our little leopards back on campus. We will continue to practice safety strategies throughout the building and our students now do this as a second nature. We have sincerely missed our parent visits and have several events planned for the second semester to get everyone involved again.
This is the time of year that we typically see the most academic growth, from January through April. Students are very used to the routines and procedures of the classroom and campus and as the content becomes more challenging, students become like little sponges and begin soaking it all in. Please make every effort to have your child at school in class as much as possible. This is a critical time as first instruction is being introduced daily and builds on the previous day’s lessons. We do have until May before the state testing begins, but every minute counts!
Attached to this newsletter is a parent informational letter regarding a school wide program we are using this year titled Capturing Kids Hearts. We know that if our students, families, and teachers have a positive relationship, and we have their hearts, it is a research proven base for getting to their heads and delivering that all important good first instruction. I will be including the family newsletter every month so you too can participate if you would like. Lamkin has taken on the theme “LamkinD”, and our students practice kindness every day. It is making a difference in our campus culture, smiles are everywhere, and student relationships are positive as well.
As always, we SO appreciate your continued support and understanding during these continued unprecedented times. I am beyond proud of how Lamkin’s staff has responded to this school year with their true love for kids and dedication to their profession evident in all they do, each and every day. Our community and parents have been just wonderful as well, and we will remember 2021 together.
