The watergate was a major political scandal that occurred in the United States in the 1970's following a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the watergate office complex in Washington, D.C The story of watergate has an intriguing historical and political background, arising out of political events of the 1960s such as Vietnam, and the publication of the Pentagon Papers in 1970. But the chronology of the scandal really begins during 1972, when the burglars were arrested.

Woodward is an American investigative journalist and non-fiction author. HE has worked for The Washington Post since 1971 as a reporter and is now an associate editor of the Post.
