TWHS AFJROTC Parent Newsletter
01 May 2024 Edition
SENIOR VIDEOS: Here are links to the videos from our annual Awards Ceremony. We were unable to view the "Then and Now" video during the live ceremony; LtColMc expresses his regrets. These videos are "unlisted" on YouTube, meaning you can't search for them--BUT anyone with whom you share the direct links can view them, meaning family and friends from out of state can watch! Open in your browser and copy the links if you'd like to share.
FINAL TRIPS OF THE YEAR--NOTE DEADLINES:
- Kitty Hawk Honor Society Trip: Saturday, 11 May 8am-4pm. We will visit Space Center Houston, followed by lunch/rides at Kemah Boardwalk. All KHHS members in good standing (i.e., not on probation with the Society, UIL eligible, and all tutoring hours complete) may attend. Payment is $12 via SchoolCash Online and is due by the end of school this Friday 03 May.
- Houston Orienteering Club Challenger 7 Score-O, 18 MAY: All interested and eligible cadets may compete. NOTE--this is the same day as TWHS Graduation. We will meet at Oak Ridge High School at 7am to ride with them, and should be back around 3:30pm. Parent Waivers will be due by the end of practice Wednesday 08 May. Waivers may be turned in early! We will accept the first TWELVE we receive, as the registration process we follow with Houston Orienteering Club has changed.
END OF AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: Thursday 02 May is the last day of our usual after-school activities, with the following two exceptions:
- CLC Prep sessions for the 28 cadets attending;
- Orienteering Practice Wednesday 01 May, Monday 06 May, and Wednesday 08 May in preparation for our final meet of the year (see above).
KENDRA SCOTT FUNDRAISER: Just in time for Mothers Day and graduation gifts! May 5th, 2-4pm. 20% of sales (including online purchases) will benefit our Booster Club! Share this with your family, friends, social media groups, and anyone else who may be able to help!
UNIFORM TURN-IN: Cadets returning next school year will keep their uniforms over the summer; cadets not returning (including graduating seniors) will bring in ALL their uniform items on Monday 06 May (juniors/seniors) or Tuesday 07 May (freshmen/sophomores). Also, all juniors will return their ABUs as they will be issued OCPs in the fall. If you're not sure if something gets turned in, just bring it on turn-in day and we'll take what is required!
CHANGING ROOM CLEANOUT: We ask all cadets to claim whatever clothing and other personal items they may have in our changing rooms at the Senior Campus and take them home by the end of the school day Friday 10 May. We will remove remaining items and donate them. This will hopefully avoid anything "ripening" in the rooms over summer!
HAIL AND FAREWELL: Friday 10 May, 5-7pm, Senior Campus JROTC area. At this event we welcome incoming freshmen and their families, and say goodbye to our graduating seniors. Signup Genius will be posted to the Booster Club Website soon for food donations.
KONA ICE FUNDRAISER: Kona Ice will be at Hail and Farewell--bring money to buy cool refreshments on a hot day and our Booster Club will receive a portion of the proceeds!
SCHOOL PHYSICALS FOR NEXT YEAR: Physical forms for next year are now available. Get your physicals now and beat the rush! You can pick up a form with the trainers or download from https://www.conroeisd.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Online-PreParticipation-Form-24-25.pdf. Walk-in clinics are always available; whether you visit a walk-in clinic or your family physician, they MUST use the CISD form. You can also complete the online portion for next year in RankOne.

PICTURES ON SNAPFISH! SnapFish has lots of photos from various events throughout the year. You can order prints if you'd like, or just scroll through them for your viewing enjoyment. NOTE: the best way to order and pay is to choose to get them printed at Wal-Mart and pay at pickup (this is an option on the SnapFish site). An option to pay via PayPal is listed but there is no way to select your personal PayPal account since the SnapFish login is a shared account.
