Coyote Connection
Volume 1, Issue 18
A Note From Mrs. McNeil
We are looking forward to a great week at the Creek. Last week, we hosted our first ever basketball game and started a new tradition of "Yotey on a Floaty!" You can find lots of pictures from the week on our Forest Creek Middle School Facebook page. We have home basketball games tomorrow (boys v. FMMS). Our girls are away this week at FMMS. We have STAR testing Tuesday and Thursday. Finally, our Honors Chorus will be performing at CRHS Thursday evening. Thank you for continuing to support our family and for being positive in all of your communications knowing that we are all on the same team and want your student to be successful at FC. Please note that when you email a teacher or staff member, it is my expectation that they reach back out to you within 24-36 hours and that they do so within their contract hours, not outside of work. It is very important to me to honor the personal and professional lives of our teachers.
Have a wonderful week!
Yours In Education,
Christine V. McNeil
Interested in participating in the FCMS Academic Challenge Team? ...From This Week's Email Blast and FB Post
Hello 'Yotes,
I am thrilled to let you know that FCMS is forming our first Academic Challenge Team! This team will compete in 6 competitions with other local middle schools from January to February, with the opportunity to advance to regional and state-level competitions. We are looking for students who excel in academics. This note is to gauge student interest in being a part of this inaugural team at FC. CLICK HERE to complete the Academic Challenge Team interest form. Once the interest survey closes (12/7), we will reach out to those students/parents with more information. Depending on interest level, students may be required to complete an academic knowledge assessment as part of the selection process.

Proud Coyote Moment
Three of our Coyotes competed in the Vex IQ Challenge tournament in Ridgeland, SC Saturday, December 4, and they won the highest awards at the Competition!
Himal Bommineni (7th), Ashwarya Prabhakaran (8th), and Pamela Carner (8th) formed an independent Vex IQ team since we don't have a program at school. They don't have a coach this year, and they are running the entire program entirely on their own.
This was their first competition since March of 2020. They won all of the Highest Awards except the Design Award, which was awarded to our friends at GHMS. Team Red Phoenix earned:
- Excellence Award - highest award; best robotics program overall.
- Judges Award - most deserving of special recognition for special attributes or achievements
- Amaze Award - most consistently high scoring and competitive robot
- Teamwork Champion - winning alliance of the teamwork challenge finals matches
- Robot Skills Champion Award - top combined driving skills and programming skills scores
-Many thanks to Mrs. Carner and Mrs. Rodriguez for sharing this news with us!
Message from the Golf Squad [@ FCMS - Second Round]
Golf Squad at Forest Creek Middle is for both new and continuing students and provides weekly opportunities for your child to learn the technical swing mechanics (i.e. putting, chipping, full swing, etc.) as well as the social skills required to enjoy golf, the clubs, and golf course (i.e. vocabulary, etiquette, rules, history, etc.) all under the instruction of an LPGA or PGA Professional. Golf is a very challenging and fun sport that can lead to college scholarships. So start early and start now...boys and girls! Even if your child already plays, it is great to enjoy weekly, convenient lessons from the pro. (Click Here to read more on how and why your child can benefit from continuing professional, golf practice with Golf Squad at your school.)
