PLEASE READ THE MESSAGE AND INFO BELOW TO PREPARE FOR 5/20
Please read all of the information below regarding material drop off and pick up on May 20, 2020
I know you understand that we have to run this as a very tight process to protect you and our staff members who will be assisting. Please read ALL of the info below and be ready to follow our lead on WEDNESDAY MAY 20.
What will be included?
Teachers and staff have bagged up all student materials that were left in classrooms when we left on March 13th. We will also include yearbooks for those who ordered, and any medication left in the clinic.
What might families be dropping off?
Please read on for info on iPads and if you are leaving the district.
An Update on iPads Over the Summer
For some of you this is good news, and for some this is not good news. For those of you who were looking forward to ridding your house of one piece of technology please know there are no school requirements that would cause your student to need their iPad after Thursday May 21.
In other words, take it away ~ they don't need it until August. Tell your kid Mrs. Sisul said so. :)
Exceptions to that statement:
- In Saturday's communication there will be info about some pretty cool virtual summer school opportunities that all Kirkwood kids can register for through the LAUNCH program.
- If we cannot hold our summer tutoring in person (late July, early August) and your student has been invited to participate, then yes, your kiddo might need his/her iPad.
LONG STORY SHORT: If your kiddo is returning to ANY Kirkwood school next year, KEEP THEIR IPAD.
PICK UP PROCEDURES: This will be a “contact free event” for everyone’s safety.
Please follow the guidelines below:
- To abide by social distancing guidelines, only one family per car.
- Please come at the time designated for your last name.
- To expedite the process, secure a sign on your dashboard with your child’s first and last name and teacher name clearly labeled.
- Enter at Rose Hill and Couch and pull around to the playground just as we do for morning drop off and afternoon arrival.
- Follow the designated path and we will funnel you into ONE row (different than the school year).
- Please plan on bringing all library books or classroom books that need to be returned. Please have these items in your trunk for us to collect. If possible have these materials in bag.
- Remain in your car the whole time unless you need to open your trunk.
- As you approach our designated stop area, have your trunk open. If you need to step out to open your trunk manually, please re-enter your car immediately.
- We will place your families bags inside, collect any materials you are dropping off and close your trunk.
- For those of you in grades K-5 who are leaving KIRKWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT please plan on bringing your iPad, charging brick and charging cord as well.
- Proceed up the driveway to exit.
