Rose Lane Principal Letter
WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP.
We have families who are jaywalking instead of using the crosswalk, parents and guardians who are parking on Rose Lane Street along the sidewalks in front of the school and the apartments, parents in cars on 12th Street and Rose Lane ignoring the crossing guard and nearly hitting her as well as the students crossing, and some parents crossing through our drop off and pick up area instead of taking the sidewalk. Those are only a few of the concerns that are currently present and we need your help to make it safe again for all families to drop off and pick up at Rose Lane.
Here are the ways you can help us:
1. If you will be picking up your child on foot, then you NEED to park at Madison Christian and walk across the crosswalk to our pick up area. We will no longer be allowing parents to park along the sidewalks on Rose Lane Street. This includes the sidewalks in front of the apartments on Rose Lane Street. There is a NO PARKING sign right in front of this location and this will be enforced starting Monday of next week.
2. Please refrain from jaywalking. It is NOT safe and it sets a bad example for your kiddos in regards to their own safety. Please be the responsible adult and take the crosswalk. It will add 2 minutes at most to your walk and it will help us avoid any adults getting hit by a car, or worse, a student being hit.
3. If you are driving on 12th Street and turning on Rose Lane, you will need to wait patiently until all the students have safely crossed and the crossing guard has put her STOP sign down. Please be patient as we have had many complaints of cars speeding through and almost hitting our students, the crossing guard and those who ride their bikes in the neighborhood.
We will notify police if this continues.
4. Dogs are not allowed in our drop off/pick up area. Please do not bring your pet onto campus. There is a sign on our fire lane gate that refers to this being a violation.
5. Do NOT walk between the drop off and pick up cars to get your child. (This is the area where our STOP sign holder and teachers assist students loading into their cars.) This is eventually going to lead to someone being seriously hurt by a car if this continues. Again, be the responsible adult and take the sidewalk around the cars to walk up and get your child.
6. Please do not drop your kiddos off on the sidewalks of Rose Lane Street. We have had numerous parents dropping off on the side of the street or near the Madison Christian crosswalk. This is not safe and is going to lead to a student being hurt.
Mrs. Starkman, our Assistant Principal, is also working with our Community Action Officer to provide additional safety measures for our drop off and pick up at Rose Lane.
Your adherence to these safety measures will have the greatest impact. Please help set the example for our students. Many of you are new parents to Rose Lane and we need your help to ensure safety moving forward. With your help we can make the necessary changes to ensure the safety of our students. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Your Rose Lane Principal,
Andre’ Reyes

Rose Lane's Assistant Principal
Hello Rose Lane Families,
We have had a wonderful month full of growth. I have enjoyed my time in classrooms witnessing all of the wonderful things your children are learning. Teachers have also done a wonderful job of reinforcing our behavior expectations. We help students SOAR (Safe, Organized, Accountable, Respectful) every day.
This is also a great time to review safety expectations during drop off and pick up. Please make sure that you are using the designated crossing areas. Do not park alongside the sidewalk as it causes congestion. We appreciate your assistance with this manner. We can all work together to make Rose Lane a safe place for everyone.
Sincerely,
Karri Starkman

Please review the available slots in the sign up genius if you are interested in helping. Please, no refrigerated or frozen items.
