What is Progeria?
Progeria is a progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly. Progeria is a randomly mutated and is not inherited. It mainly affects babies at the age of 0-2.Its name is derived from the Greek and means "prematurely old."
What are some symptoms of Progeria?
Symptoms, such as slow growth and hair loss, begin to appear in the first year or two of life. Your skin will also become very wrinkly and dry. Some other key symptoms are hair loss, delayed tooth development, enlarged head, hearing loss, high-pitched voice, incomplete sexual maturation, joint stiffness, loss of muscle, osteoarthritis, or taut skin. Basically you will be a big little kid.
Is there a cure for Progeria?
Right now THERE IS NO CURE for progeria, but medications may alleviate symptoms or delay progression.You can get physical therapy and occupational therapy.You could also get medications. Statin, Bone health, and Anti-inflammatory.You can get a hearing aid .
History Of Progeria
"The first case of Progeria" was found in England, in 1886 by Dr. Jonathan Hutchinson, and in 1897 by Dr. Hastings Gilford.
