Spotlight Artist
Lucy Katulski used the grid technique to accurately draw and color a zoomed in view of a junk food and healthy food snack. Lucy created incredible artworks by striving for accuracy and working diligently in class. Great job, Lucy!
Highlight of the Week
Ms. Smith's PE Classes
In Ms. Smith's PE classes, we just finished up our badminton tournament. After a week of learning and practicing, and a week of round robin games, here are the 6th grade champs!
Mr. Woodward's 6th Grade Health Classes
In 6th Grade Health, students have been using their knowledge of food labels to create healthy, balanced meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We aligned our meals with the calorie and food group recommendations we got from completing the MyPlate plan online.
Ms. Russette's 7th grade Digital Literacy
Students in Ms. Russette's 7th grade Digital Literacy class just completed a project titled "Soundtrack of My Life." Google Slides were created to highlight 8 significant moments in their life. Each moment was supported with an explanation and an embedded youtube video supporting a song that reminded them of this event in their life. Students presented their Soundtracks. We had great fun learning about each other!
Chromebooks
We've noticed that some students are arriving at school with their Chromebooks running very low on battery. To ensure that every student can fully engage in their learning, we kindly ask for your support in reminding your child to charge their device each night at home.
To make charging convenient, each student was provided with a 45W USB-C Chromebook charger when they received their district Chromebook. Amazon also has very affordable options for Chromebook chargers.
We appreciate your partnership in helping to keep our students equipped and prepared for success.
2025 Washington DC Trip - Informational Meeting
Dear 7th grade MMS Parents and Guardians,
We are so excited to begin planning our 2025 Washington DC trip for our current 7th grade students! There will be an informational meeting to discuss the trip on Tuesday, May 7th, in the large cafeteria at 5:30 pm.
If you already know your student will be attending the trip, feel free to join the 2025 Parent Band App Group using the QR code or link below.

Mott Book Drive
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the MMS community, we have raised over $5,000 this year to purchase new books for the Giving Library at Mott Children's Hospital this year!
We would like to honor MMS students who have been patients at Mott by including labels in the books which will read, “Donated in honor of _____ from Millennium Middle School."
If your student has been an inpatient guest at Mott Hospital and you would like to have them honored, please complete this Google Form.
Reminder - Teacher Appreciation
MMS PTO will be celebrating our amazing staff the week of May 6th through 10th.
We're asking for donations of supplies for our Teacher Shop Event that will take place that week as well as donations of gift cards to go along with a Thank You note at the end of the week.
Amazon Wishlist:
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/VO15V63BXLZY?ref_=wl_share
If you select items from the Amazon wish list, please send them to the address provided *OR* you may drop them off at MMS. Our team will collect donated items and store them ahead of our celebration.
Gift card donations should be in $20 increments. We have found the best options are food (Subway, Culvers, Taco Bell, Starbucks, etc.), shopping (Amazon, Target, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, etc.), and local establishments (Venue, Lemon Tree, South Lyon Hotel, Corner Social, etc.).
Don't have time to shop? No problem! You can also donate using the PTO Venmo (@MMS-PTO-2) and we'll fill in any open needs. Please indicate "staff appreciation" in the memo line of your donation.
Deadline for donations is Friday, May 3rd so we have time to shop for any remaining needs.
As always, we couldn't run these events without your participation. We love celebrating these amazing educators for a whole week and we appreciate all you're able to give to make it an awesome event each year.
Please reach out to Christine Kaczkowski (kaczkowskic@slcs.us) with any questions or concerns.
