Here's what's happening in MS this week!
February 10, 2020
Dear parents,
All grades are participating in a canned food drive to benefit Good Sam’s this week. Bring in canned food donations to your seminar by Friday morning to participate in the competition!
If anyone has newspapers they can donate to art that would be great and some wooden rolling pins as we broke some this week.
We have half a day Friday with afternoon classes meeting.
ENGLISH
6th Grade: We’ve completed the NWEA testing so we can now refocus on writing our narratives. “The City of Ember” projects were due this past Friday and most students turned in all three. Since we have the canned food drive assembly on Friday morning, students will be taking the vocabulary quiz on Thursday. They now have notes to use on the test for a maximum grade of 85%. If your student has been struggling with these quizzes, encourage them to use their notes.
7th Grade: NWEA testing is complete and now we are refocused on our narratives. Narratives will be due on Friday the 21st. Grading rubrics will be handed out by the end of this week and posted in Google classroom. Since we don’t meet this Friday, the vocabulary quiz will be on Thursday. They now have notes to use on the test for a maximum grade of 85%. If your student has been struggling with these quizzes, encourage them to use their notes.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: We have been reviewing and practicing map skills. Please encourage your student to practice identifying US states as well as other countries in the world. They have each set their own goals for how many they plan to be able to identify in the spring. We have also been researching a US state or a world country of their choice. We will be sharing our research this week as well as discussing how people and ideas move throughout the world.

7th Grade: 7th graders have been learning how to combine like terms, the beginning of algebra concepts. We will have a quiz this week covering the lessons. iReady is still 45 minutes this week.
8th Grade: 8th graders took a practice quiz on Friday and their quiz is Monday. They have been busy solving equations and deciding if there is one, infinite or no solutions. This week we begin how to solve systems of equations. iReady is still 45 minutes this week.
