Physical Geography
Some of the natural resources in China are coal, iron ore, petroleum, natural gas, mercury, tin, tungsten, antimony, manganese, molybdenum, vanadium, magnetite, aluminum, lead, zinc, rare earth elements, uranium, hydropower potential Some natural hazards are frequent typhoons (about five per year along southern and eastern coasts); damaging floods; tsunamis; earthquakes; droughts; land subsidencevolcanism: China contains some historically active volcanoes including Changbaishan, Hainan Dao, and Kunlun although most have been relatively inactive in recent centuries. There are many landforms like mountains, high plateaus, deserts in west; plains, deltas, and hills in east. The climate in China is extremely diverse; tropical in south to subarctic in north.
Culture
China's nationality is Chinese. China's ethnic groups are Han Chinese, Zhuang, Manchu, Hui, Miao, Uighur, Tujia, Yi, Mongol, Tibetan, Buyi, Dong, Yao, Korean, and other nationalities. Some languages that are spoken are Standard Chinese or Mandarin, Yue, Wu, Minbei, Minnan, Xiang, Gan, Hakka dialects, minority languages. Some of its religions are Daoist, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim.
Government
China's Executive Branch leaders are President HU Jintao (since 15 March 2003) and Premier WEN Jiabao (since 16 March 2003). The name of the Legislative Branch is Quanguo Renmin Daibiao Dahui. The Judicial Branch contains all of the courts in the country. China's constitution was adopted December 4th, 1982. The age when citizens can vote is 18.
Economy
The average person makes 9,100 dollars per year. China's agricultural products are rice, wheat, potatoes, corn, peanuts, tea, millet, barley, apples, cotton, oilseed, pork, and fish. China's industries include mining and ore processing, iron, steel, aluminum, and other metals, coal, machine building, armaments, textiles and apparel, petroleum, cement, chemicals, fertilizers, consumer products, including footwear, toys, and electronics, food processing, transportation equipment, including automobiles, rail cars and locomotives, ships, and aircraft, telecommunications equipment, commercial space launch vehicles, satellites. China's import partners are Japan 11.2%, South Korea 9.3%, US 6.8%, Germany 5.3%, Australia 4.6% (2011). Its export partners are US 17.1%, Hong Kong 14.1%, Japan 7.8%, South Korea 4.4%, Germany 4% (2011). China's labor forces are agriculture: 36.7%, industry: 28.7%, services: 34.6% (2008 est.). China's currency is renminbi.
