News and Notes
While the days away this week were in no way planned, it sure makes for an eventful week upon return to a sense of normalcy! My hope is that you were spared from the storm and am grateful to report that RHHS had very few incidents in which were able to be rectified prior to welcoming students back today!
With the school year in full swing, I most certainly hope that your child is continuing to express success all the while engaging in what we plan to be the best school experience around. While RHHS and the surrounding community is growing at exponential rates, we are appreciative of the understanding, the hard work and the dedication of our staff to continue to pour into each and every child. I would encourage you as parents to continue to pique your child's interest, thoroughly review the newsletters sent, ask those questions about the activities at school, consistently check in on their PowerSchool (If you need help with this reach out to Kwhitley@bryan.k12.ga.us) and always seek feedback from the school directly if we can ever be a source of information or support; YES majority of Social Media information has a hint of feelings with uniformed facts/opinions.
One of our biggest action steps in maintaining a positive atmosphere is to further engage students outside of the four walls of the classroom. Through this, we see increased achievement rates and decreased discipline rates. I am happy to report that we are off to a great start this year with a multitude of students making those meaningful connections and a steady decline in the some of the behaviors that impact students learning. However, your partnership continues to be valued and is second to none when it comes to support.
While we are experiencing a great start to the school year, it would be silly of me not to mention one of the most problematic occurrences that seems to plague high schoolers nationwide - VAPING. With the ever presence of vapes both nicotine and THC being sold at almost every store, it is unlikely that you've never seen or heard of these before. Your diligence, connection and knowing the trends of the era is of utmost importance in addressing this epidemic that continues to target and plague students of all backgrounds. As always, we are just a phone call or email away! We look forward to continuing the journey we started and finishing stronger than we began!

PSAT Information
We wanted to inform you about an upcoming event that requires your attention and preparation. The Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) has been scheduled to take place on October 24th at Richmond Hill High School. Details of the PSAT Test:
Date: October 24th
Time: 7:30 a.m
Location: Richmond Hill High School
The PSAT is an essential assessment that offers students an opportunity to practice for the SAT, assess their academic strengths and areas for improvement, and potentially qualify them for National Merit Scholarship programs. It is an invaluable tool that provides insight into college readiness and offers a chance to experience a standardized testing environment. Who takes the test? 10th Graders: All sophomores are registered by the school and are required to take the test free of charge.
Juniors who would like to take the PSAT in order to potentially qualify for National Merit Scholarships may do so. This is optional and not required. The fee for Juniors to take the PSAT is $20. This fee will be uploaded to MyPaymentsPlus, and if the student does not show up on test day, there are NO REFUNDS. Juniors may use the following link to sign up for the PSAT:
Deadline for Junior registration is September 7.
We understand the significance of the PSAT in your educational journey and encourage you to approach it with a positive and focused mindset. For any questions or concerns regarding the PSAT administration, please feel free to contact our school's testing coordinator at jpolk@bryan.k12.ga.us
