Thanks
I also want to acknowledge how grateful I am to work with all of you. Your ability to find humor in the occasional chaos, your flexibility and patience with the ever changing routines and schedules and needs, and your forgiveness of me for the many times I have dropped the ball.
I hope you all have the restful and reflective Thanksgiving week that you deserve!

Technology Class Update
A big thank you to Ms. Regalado for "taking on TK".
I am working on setting up a sub. schedule to cover Ms. Regalado's preps. Because this will be a substitute covering the class, the sub. will be running ST Math and/or Raz Kids (Tk-3) during the time that students are in tech prep for these three weeks.
Reading PD Cycle Continues This Weds.
Remember TK-3 was asked to identify their "cusp" students and collect data on them this week. Here's the data tracker in case you need another copy:

Unit and Lesson Planning with Roadmaps
These super helpful tools were developed in collaboration between the OUSD Central Literacy Team, TSAs, and Teachers.
The intent is to simplify the planning process for teachers using WW and RW.
Features of this tool include:
teaching points
page numbers
sample content language objectives
small group work, materials needed
focus literacy standards.
This tool does not supplant of the Units of Study, but rather creates an entry point to guide teachers in navigating the wonderfully complex Reading and Writing Units of Study.

Report Card SEL Grading
Please note that you are definitely "allowed" to grade as many as you want. This can be a great way to open up a conversation with a parent about behavior and SEL concerns you have about a student.

Absence Protocol- Review Required
This is a reminder of the absence protocol:
1) Put in all absences into the sub. system as soon as you know you will be absent.
2) If you are submitting absences in advance, please check the sub system to make sure that the absence has been entered and a sub. has picked it up.
3) Complete absence paperwork and give to Ms. Warren the day you return to school.
4) If you are taking a personal day, this must be requested in writing in advance.
In addition, I'm adding a new procedure which I will review with staff at our staff meeting on Monday:
Due to the shortage in subs, if you are calling in sick, please text or email me and Ms. Plambeck and the office staff that morning so we can make sure your sub. shows up and your children are not left on the yard waiting.
This is to happen EVEN If you think you have a sub. coming as we are routinely having subs. cancel the morning of a job or not showing up at all and this creates a lot of chaos for your class and support staff who scramble to cover your students.
