Girls Basketball
The 7th grade Lady Cadets fell short in the first round of the Hendricks County Tourney losing to a very solid Brownsburg West team. . The game was tied 20 - 20 at halftime. Brownsburg came out strong in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Cadets 11-5 but the Cadets could not make up the difference. Final score – 39 – 31. Scorers were Addi Thompson, Taylor Gibbs, Regan Franklin, Maggie Hall, Tatum Savini and Vivian Miles. Your 7th grade Lady Cadets are the Cupid Classic champions for the 2022-2023 season. A big win over North Montgomery with a final score of 34-8 and a win in the championship game over Southmont with a final score of 36-16. Total team effort as all ten players scored. Congratulations Lady Cadets!!!
The 8th grade girls had a couple tough road games this week. First, against Brownsburg West. The Lady Cadets took the lead early but the dogs made a run in the 3rd quarter to hold on for the win 32-30. Lead scorers for the Cadets were Izzy Guetig with 9 and Alaina Harshbarger with 7. Triton proved to be a very good team. Beating the Cadets 49-32 in a very physical match. Leading scorers were Izzy Guetig with 8 and Regan Franklin with 10. At home in the Cascade hosted Cupid Classic the girls fell short at the free throw line against North Mont losing 21-15. Alaina Harshbarger was leading scorer with 5. The girls finally found themselves a win against Techumseh beating them 26-24 for the 3rd place in CCC. Leading scorers, again, were Izzy Guetig with 10 and Alaina Harshbarger with 6.
Wrestling
The CMS wrestling team continued their winning ways. Wins over Triton Central and Monrovia secured a perfect 4-0 record in conference duals. Thursday night we traveled to Decatur Central and came away with a 78-45 victory. These wins bring the teams record to 25-2 on the season. Stand out performances were Byron Burdge who remained unbeaten on the year with a pair of pins and win by forfeit.
Swimming
Swimmers and diver performed well against North Putnam. Most swimmers and divers had personal best times and scores, including Wyatt Theissen with a 25 point improvement in diving and Zoey Effner with a 17 second time drop in 200 freestyle.
Both boy’s and girl’s teams defeated Speedway with another night of personal best times. Evan Dixon had one of the largest time drops with a 14 second improvement in 50 butterfly. Birdie Swafford had the biggest time drop of 20 seconds in 100 free.
