News From our School Counselors
OWjL Camp for Gifted and Talented Middle School Students
Ohio Wesleyan University Junior League (OWjL) of Columbus is a residential summer camp program of challenge and enrichment for central Ohio’s gifted and talented middle school students currently in grades 6-8. It is sponsored by Ohio Wesleyan University and founded by the Junior League of Columbus, with major support from corporations, foundations, community service groups and individual contributions.
Campers attending OWjL select four courses from an academic program that includes mathematics, logic, computing, science, humanities and creative development. Cultural, recreational and social activities round out the experience and include the annual OWjL dance, swimming, campus tours, crafts, and games.
Attendees reside in Hayes Hall on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus, where they live in a family group atmosphere with an adult OWjL counselor.
Approximately 540 campers are selected to attend the OWjL program, representing more than 120 middle schools in the central Ohio counties of Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union. The deadline applications is January 31st. Questions can be answered by emailing the OWjL office at owjl@owu.edu or go to the OWjL website at http://owjl.owu.edu
College & Career Night
Holiday Toy/ Collection Drive
Tomorrow (Friday) is the last day to buy candy canes. They are 50 cents or $1 with a message. All proceeds go toward the Holiday Assistance fund for families within our school district. Tomorrow is also "Deck The Halls" Day - for $1, students may dress in their most festive Holiday gear. Thank you for helping to make the holidays bright for families in need of assistance.
Teen Night
Our PTO needs YOU! Many adults are needed to make this a fun and successful event for our students. If you can volunteer to chaperone, help with concessions, clean up, games, ticket sales, or by donating a dessert item, please click on the SIGN UP GENIUS or contact Tammy Powers at tpowers1608@gmail.com. Thanks in advance.
Chromebook Care
Please encourage your child to develop a routine of plugging in the device each evening. We appreciate your support and help with this issue as it is an expectation that ALL students come to school with a charged device ready to be used each day.
With Winter Break just around the corner, we need your help to keep the Chromebooks in good working order. Our district techs have noted that after winter break is when they tend to see an increase in damaged devices. Please review the attached HELPFUL HINTS to avoid costly repairs, thank you.
