College GO Week!
College GO Week is September 25-29th!
This is a week of events to help students explore college options through research and virtual campus visits, and guide them through the steps they need to take to prepare and apply to college.
Freshman will learn how to create their 4 year graduation plan in Naviance.
Sophomores will take a Career Assessment to see where their strengths are and what post-secondary options might be a good fit for them
Juniors will explore different local school campuses virtually!
Seniors will have the opportunity to participate in College Application Day. Seniors are encouraged to apply for admission to at least 1 college or university, if they have not already done so. We will have time scheduled on Thursday, September 28th during Academic Lab, to assist students with the application process here at NHS. More information will be sent home to parent's of Seniors.
We will also have fun events to celebrate throughout the week. Looking forward to helping students explore their post High School futures!

Dealing with Stress and Anxiety
This time of year we see a lot of anxiety and stress in our students. The excitement of the school year has waned and now students are busy trying to balance their school work, social life and outside athletics, club and activities. For Juniors and Seniors, there is the added pressure of what comes next for them as they plan and prepare for their post-secondary plans. It is normal for students to feel overwhelmed at times, but it is also important we share ways to get through life when it feels difficult. One of the things we work with students on is finding coping skills, healthy ways to deal with stress when things get tough. Below is a great list of coping skills to remind students they have the tools to overcome tough times.
If someone you know is struggling emotionally or having a hard time, you can be the difference in getting them the help they need. We are here to support students both academically and social/emotionally. Please reach out for assistance and we can get you connected to community or school based resources.
Call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) at any time for help if a child, student or peer is struggling.
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide prevention awareness.
