From The Principal's Desk
Greetings North Wales Families,
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Read Across America Week! Our first Literacy Night was a huge success. Thank you to the event organizers, parent volunteers and guest readers who joined us.
- Daylight savings time kicked in today. We lose an hour of sleep. However, we gain the extra hour of daylight!
- Spring picture day is Wednesday, March 13th
- St. Patrick's Day spirit day- Friday, March 15th ( wear your green gear)
Just a reminder to sign up to receive your two complimentary tickets to a Flyers game, please follow the directions in the link: Flyers Complimentary Tickets
Our word/phrase of the week is listen to understand:
Listening to understand is when you focus on what the other person is saying and try to see things from their perspective. You may ask questions to clarify anything you don't understand, and you may even repeat back what the other person has said to make sure you're on the same page.
To report absences and schedueled vacations, please use the School Messenger- The preferred method for parents/guardians to report their child's absence, tardiness, or early departure.
As always, we thank you so much for being a part of the North Wales family!
Warmly,
Ms. Kenney
Principal

This Week's Literacy Highlight
Last week's Read Across America activities were fun-filled celebrations of reading. Students had surprise guest readers during Library. They shopped at the book fair, and read to each other during Literacy Night. First Grade students received books donated by the North Penn Foundation to enhance their reading interest. A genre survey was conducted and all students cast their votes for their favorite genre. North Wales' most favorite genre is Mystery , with 89 votes!!!!! We closed out this fun-filled week with a Drop Everything And Read on Friday afternoon. Help us continue to encourage love of literacy by picking up a book this week!

Cultural Highlights Of The Week

Katharine Graham was a publisher who led The Washington Post for almost thirty years. She was the first female publisher of a major newspaper, and in 1972 she became the first female CEO of a Fortune 500 company as the CEO of the Washington Post company. She also won a Pulitzer Prize for her memoir Personal History in 1998.
Ramadan
Ramadan starts today! Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer for Muslims, the followers of Islam. It is celebrated as the month during which Muhammad received the initial revelations of the Quran, the holy book for Muslims. Fasting is one of the five fundamental principles of Islam. This year, Ramadan lasts from the evening of Sunday, March 10th to the evening of Tuesday, April 9th, 2024. Schools will be closed on Wednesday, April 10th in observance of Eid al Fitr.
