Indian Knoll Elementary
Letter From the Principal
IKES Families,
Our school opening events have been a huge success! We thank you for your participation in our Meet and Greet, Curriculum Nights, and the PTA Back to School Bash! After Labor Day, we eagerly look forward to celebrating and honoring our Grandparents and welcoming them to Indian Knoll for breakfast, a picture, and a visit to the fall bookfair. Firebird students are now proudly wearing their House Shirts and earning Dojo points for exemplary behavior, positive character, and for academic excellence. We are thrilled to celebrate student successes on a daily basis and through our quarterly PBIS student assemblies! Lastly, will also start analyzing student assessments and test scores as we update our School Improvement Plan for the 2018-19 school year. As 2018 Milestone results are released from the Georgia Department of Education, we will be forwarding that information to all stakeholders. Our school goals will remain consistent with a focus on both reading and math in all grade levels. Thanks in advance for being a partner in your child’s education. We value your commitment and participation at IKES. #IKESRocks #CCSDfam
All the best,
Kim Cerasoli, Principal

Spotlight on Mrs. Cerasoli! Getting to know our new Principal...
Mackenzie: What did you do for summer break?
Mrs. Cerasoli: I went to Mexico during summer break and then I went to Las Vegas.
Luci: What is your favorite color?
Mrs. Cerasoli: Turquoise
Luci: Same.
Mrs. Cerasoli: Same? Alright! Great minds think alike.
Mackenzie: What makes a good day at school?
Mrs. Cerasoli: A good day at school is when I can walk into the cafeteria and see everyone with great manners and sit down with some of the boys and girls and get to talk to them about their day and make sure that everybody is feeling really good about the school and happy to be here.
Luci: What is your favorite animal?
Mrs. Cerasoli: My favorite animal would have to be a dog. I've always had a dog when I was small and then as an adult. Growing up, we've always had a dog in the house.
Mackenzie: What inspires you?
Mrs. Cerasoli: I get inspired by people who value service to others. So when I see someone doing something to help someone here at school or out in the community, that really inspires me to be a better person because I want to help others as well.
Luci: How do you show school spirit?
Mrs. Cerasoli: We started our PBIS; we're continuing that with our new House Birds. So, we're going to show spirit, as a matter of fact, this Friday by wearing our spirit shirts that we just got today. We're going to have quarterly assemblies to celebrate all of our students' successes and show our school spirit there too.
Mackenzie: What is your first school memory?
Mrs. Cerasoli: When I went off to Kindergarten and I had brand new shoes and a brand new outfit. I had a lunch box I was carrying to school. My mom was taking pictures of me and I got on the school bus. That first day of school is always very special to me.
Mackenzie: What Bird House are you in?
Mrs. Cerasoli: I am a blue eagle and look what I found at my house (pointing to statue of Eagle on her desk). I put that on my desk to remind me that I'm an eagle.
Luci: Do you have any children?
Mrs. Cerasoli: I have two children. My daughter Alexa goes to Georgia State. My son Jake is in the Air Force. He's an air traffic controller in Washington state.
Luci: What song do you know all the words to or what's your favorite type of music?
Mrs. Cerasoli: There's quite a few songs. Let's see, I've been to several concerts this year. I like 70's and 80's soft rock. Journey songs; I like Styx and REO Speedwagon...things that you've probably never heard of. I saw the concert Chicago this summer.
Mackenzie: Mine is Star 94.
Mrs. Cerasoli: I will have to say, it's not a question but have you guys ever heard the phone scams on Star 94? I listen to that every morning as I go off to work. That is a very fun and exciting way to start my day every my morning. I pull in and I'm laughing because they are just so silly on that phone call. It's a great way to start the day with a smile on your face!
Thank you to Luci and Mackenzie Pittaway and Mrs. Cerasoli for putting a smile on OUR faces with this fun interview!
