Pennies for Patients
Pennies for Patients fundraiser asks students to scrounge at home for lose change to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. NJHS will be collecting money throughout the month of February. The winning Pride class gets a catered luncheon from the Olive Garden! In order to make things fair, class totals are divided by the number of students in a Pride class. This will give an amount per student collected. Please be supportive and encourage students to contribute. This is one of the ways we can teach about empathy and helping others who have life threatening illnesses. Collection days will be: February 4, 6, 12, 19 & 25.
What's Happening at McMillan this Month
McMillan Accreditation Review Team Visit, February 3-5th
Every 5 years, our school goes through the accreditation process. Accreditation is a process for gathering and synthesizing information collected through surveys, inventories, interviews, and observations that informs a school on its continuous school improvement journey. All stakeholders, students, parents, teachers, and administration are a part of the process and the information collected helps the school build up on strengths and identify opportunities for continued growth.
Our Engagement Review will take place February 3rd-5th. The review is led by a team of professional evaluators. During the review, the Engagement Review Team conducts interviews with a range of stakeholders, reviews documents and student performance data, and makes professional observations about the quality of McMillan Magnet Middle School. The team is responsible for making an accreditation recommendation for review by Cognia Commissions. We will use the findings from the team to further our continuous improvement efforts.
