Applications for the 2024-2025 Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador team are open! Youth in grades 10-12 can apply, and applications are due April 15. Learn more and apply.
Register for Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Opportunities (YELLO)
2024 YELLO registration opens April 1. Register by May 10 for four days of learning and leadership. This year the State Ambassadors are excited to host youth in grades 7+ at the University of Minnesota-Morris June 12-15. YELLO is a great opportunity for leadership, team building, and meeting youth from across the state! Learn more and register.
4-H Adult Workforce Re-entry Scholarship & 4-H Searles Family Scholarship: Application deadline extended to April 15
The 4-H Adult Workforce Re-entry Scholarship awards $1500 each to two adults, or $3000 to one adult who is re-training to enter the workforce or to change jobs. If you are at least 30 years old, have been a 4-H member for at least five years, and/or have been a 4-H volunteer for at least two years, you may qualify for this scholarship. Learn more and apply.
The Searles Family Scholarship is for a 4-H youth in Olmsted County who will be attending a Minnesota college as a freshman. The $750 award is based on academic achievement, 4-H involvement, and leadership. Learn more and apply.

Carlton County 4-H Dog Training
Summer is right around the corner, which mean dog training will be starting. Please take the time to fill out the the 2024 Dog Training Survey ! This will give our dog trainers an idea of how many youth are interested in dog training! And as a reminder all dogs who participate in dog training must have the following vaccination up-to-date: Rabies and DHLPP.
2024 “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” 4-H Photography Contest
Minnesota 4-H Photography is excited to offer another multi-state photography contest open to youth in grades K-13!
Select your best photo (with no or minimal editing) and submit it with up to two sentences that explains why it’s special to you! More information and rules for the challenge can be found at: 4-H Hit Me with Your Best Shot Photo Contest | UMN Extension with rules available here.
Submit one (1) jpg or jpeg image and statement to fourhphoto@umn.edu by 11:59 p.m. (CST) on May 1, 2024. Volunteer 4-H photography judges will provide feedback via a slideshow. Top photos will be recognized with a prize and random prize drawing winners will also receive a gift.

Use these resources to stay updated on the latest animal health and biosecurity practices to help keep animals safe.

National 4-H Volunteer Week on April 17th-23nd
April Livestock PDC Meeting
Minnesota 4-H Livestock Judging Camp
Do you want to enhance your livestock evaluation and selection skills? Do you want to become better at oral reasons? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then the 2024 Minnesota 4-H Livestock Judging Camp is for you! Presented by the University of Minnesota livestock judging team and Coach Kyle Rozeboom, you’ll learn the basic fundamentals of livestock judging and evaluation, receive instruction with oral reasons, and become more confident with livestock judging! Camp begins with check-in at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17, at the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus, and concludes with an awards program at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19. Learn more and register.
2024 shooting sports and wildlife leader certification training
April 20 - Wadena (archery, rifle/pistol, and wildlife) - Registration deadline: April 7.
April 27 - Mora (archery, muzzleloading, rifle/pistol, shotgun, and wildlife) - Registration deadline: April 14.
To run a county or multi-county shooting sports and wildlife program, instructors must be certified by Minnesota 4-H. Leader certification training is designed to cover the essential knowledge and rules to become a certified 4-H county instructor. The training is designed for adults and youth (grades 9+) that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports or wildlife. This training meets the 4-H project leaders' requirements for certification and recertification. A link will be sent to you to complete a newly designed online course. If you have completed the old Steps 1-2 since 2020, you do not need to complete this updated pre-work. Learn more and register.
4-H Wildlife Habitat Education Program (WHEP) state contest
Don’t have a team but want to participate? Register as an individual! The WHEP state contest is now open to individuals and teams! Plan to attend the state 4-H WHEP contest, which will be held at the Bonanza Education Center at Big Stone Lake State Park on April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration details and schedule can be found on the website. Registration deadline: April 14. Learn more and register.
