FROM THE HEAD'S DESK
Firstly a huge thank you to the PTA, our Year 10 and 11 pupils and the Staff who helped ensure that the Fireworks were a great success. The feedback that I had was excellent, even if Wales did lose to Australia on the big screen.
Year 7 Parents had their first Evening to meet the Staff, again I am delighted to report that it was a very positive evening.
We will now enjoy a well earned break, although we do have groups travelling to Kos (Sailing), Normandy (French), Salamanca (Spanish) and Munich (German) in the first week and Rowing Training camps in the second. Good luck to all of those and also to boys playing Halliford tomorrow.
On the first day back I look forward to meeting with the Year 11 parents and if you have not booked in yet, I would recommend you attend the talk on Cybersafety given by Paul Hay on Wednesday 4 November..
Don't forget Wandering the West End, with performances on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November at the Maidenhead Town Hall, it promises to be a great show.

PTA NEWS
As parents you are all members of the Claires Court PTA and therefore everyone is welcome to attend the PTA meetings and help decide how best the PTA can support the school.
Without parental support it would be impossible to run the Claires Court PTA events, which play a big part in making our school so special. The PTA helps keep the family atmosphere of the school alive and by getting involved with the PTA will give all parents the chance to be involved through joining the committee and supporting fundraising events. We understand that everyone leads busy lives, but the school does benefit directly as a result of all our efforts.
At the start of a new school year it is inevitable that the committee will change. Some committee members will be stepping down and others can no longer participate as their children have left Claires Court. A new committee to coordinate Claires Court Senior Boys PTA activities is therefore required. If you are interested in joining the committee, or just happy to help at events, please contact felipe@familyfoy.com
TEACHING NOTICES
GCSE MFL REVISION STRATEGIES ASSEMBLY
During this week, boys in Y10 and Y11 have attended an assembly given by a member of the MFL team. This gave pupils a wide range of strategies to help them learn the vocabulary and grammar of their respective languages. Our aim is to support and empower those boys just embarking on GCSE language courses in Y10, as well as giving further guidance to the pupils in Y11, who are preparing towards controlled assessments, as well as mock exams this December. Those who get into the regular habit of good study/revision routines (little and often works best with language-learning) will maximise their chances of securing a good grade.
We are frequently asked by parents about ways in which they can support their son's progress in language learning, and we would encourage you to talk to your son about the techniques suggested in the assembly. Your son will also receive a hard copy of the presentation from his language teacher.
Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Heather Stratton - Head of MFL

FROM THE OFFICE
SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENING
Thursday 26 November - Advance notice for our Year 11 parents to put the date in their diaries.
BUSES
A reminder to boys and parents that the procedure to follow if a bus runs late in the morning is to remain waiting at the stop. The routes will always be covered and transport will arrive. The school office tries to share information we have as soon as is practicable with boys via mobile, or with parents if this is quicker.
BAGS
We have had one or two items of kit that have gone missing from kits bags this week. Boys should keep their kit locked away in their lockers. If there is a problem with a locker this should be reported to Reception so that it can be resolved. We no longer keep replacement padlocks in school – boys need to bring a replacement from home if they lose their padlock. We are always happy to look after valuables such as mobile phones in the office , but we do not have space for bags.
LOST PROPERTY
Two boys this week have lost items from kit bags. We are searching for PE top and Shorts belonging to Ethan Brooks and a pair of white football boots belonging to William Edwards-Handley. Please return to the office if found.
