Happy Fall!
Hello Paddy Hill Families!
We had so much fun celebrating Pumpkin Day as a school earlier this week! Students did a science pumpkin exploration, outdoor scavenger hunt, and we created a paper pumpkin patch representing our school. We also had whole school assembly, featuring student leaders to teach us about Habit #2: Begin with the End in Mind.
Students this month will be tracking their successful completion of iReady Lessons. Students have talked about setting their Wildly Important Goals and what lead measures they need to take in order to be successful! Ask your child what they are doing to meet their goal. Students might mention using a whiteboard or note paper to help with their math problem solving, using headphones or the repeat directions button to make sure they know what they have to do, or their three reads strategy to understand a word problem on iReady. We look forward to celebrating with classrooms who meet their goal with a WaCkY WeDnEsDaY dress up day on 11/30. More information to come!

Leader in Me Family Series
We are lucky to have our District’s Leader in Me Coach, Lori Quinn, help present the 7 Habits of Successful Families. Other staff members and your children will help lead our learning. We have selected the following dates for our first family cohort!
11/16-- Private Victory-- Habits 1-3
Families will engage in activities about how to be proactive, beginning with the end in mind, and putting first things first.
3/1-- Public Victory-- Habits 4-6
Families will engage in activities about thinking win-win, seeking first to understand and then to be understood, and synergize.
5/10-- Sharpen the Saw/Putting it all together
Families will engage in activities learning about how to keep balanced with sharpening the saw.
Each night, we hope to start together, enjoying Mark’s Pizza and getting to know one another. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:00. Then we will learn about the 7 Habits together from 6-7pm. All of the sessions will take place at Paddy Hill.
If you are available for ALL THREE sessions and would like to join us please fill out this google form by 11/9. We have space for a few more families!
Leader In Me Book of the Month
During the Month of October, all students read or listened to the story Circles by Brad Montague. Click here to watch the story as a family. Consider talking as a family about some of the questions we discussed here at school!
- How does it feel to be in your own circle, by yourself?
- Who can you bring into your circle?
- In what ways are we unique/different? How does this make our circles different?
- What happens when we have a wide circle?
- How does it feel to be on the outside of the circle?
- Why is it important to love your own circle?

Counselor's Corner
Welcome Ms. Adam!
Hello! My name is Sophie Adam, and I am joining the counseling team while Ms. Drisdom is on-leave. Although short-term, I plan on making the most out of the time that I get to spend with your kiddos. A little bit about me…. I come from a large family that included many different animals. I find joy in spending time with my dog, Milly and my kitten, Melvin. If I am not working, I am with my animals, on a hike, crafting, decorating, or sitting on my porch. I look forward to supporting your students as they navigate life!
From Mrs. Brooks & Ms. Adam:
This school year we are excited to focus on Social-Emotional learning. We will be teaching classroom lessons based on the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning) competencies. These competencies align with the skills that your child will be working on this year in school.
We have focused our lessons this fall on Skill #1-Self-Awareness and Skill #2-Self-Management. Please take a look at the information below that further explains these skills and some ideas for you at home (Self-Awareness and Self-Management Skills ).

Infinite Campus Access
Infinite campus Portal and Campus Backpack contains a lot of important information for families. It is important that you have an account that you know how to acces.Below is a reminder on how you will access your child’s report in Infinite Campus Backpack or, for new families, set up an account.
In order for a guardian to access their child's report card, they must complete this Form
This form will need to be submitted to the main office. You can do this electronically by emailing our main office staff (Debbie.Kreckman@greececsd.org) or you can come in and turn in your form in person. Once you have submitted your form, you will be provided with a pin that will allow you to access the parent portal.
A video with step-by-step directions can be found at the following Video Link. We understand that this may be a new process for some of you and we wanted to provide everyone with enough time to be able to sign-up.

Early Learning
Check out some fun learning through play experiences for our younger learners!
Candy Sort and Graph:
Playing with colored candies is the perfect way to add words like "most," "least," and "total" to your child's vocabulary!
Grocery Sack Syllables:
As you unpack the groceries or go through a pile of treats, ask your child to help you clap and count the syllables in each item’s name. Sort the items by their number of syllables. For example: "Say and clap 'apple.' How many claps do you hear? (Two!) Say and clap 'grapes.' How many claps do you hear? (One!) Now, should we put the caramel with the grapes or with the apples? (Apples!)"
