Students Doing Amazing Things!
Special Olympics Unified Sports Day
William Penn University hosted a Special Olympics Unified Sports Day on Wednesday, February 14th. Pella Middle School Peer PE was fortunate enough to participate along with the Pella High School's Peer PE. Pella Middle School took two students and six peers to the event. Students participated in eight different activity stations that included bocce ball and bags, soccer, parachute, basketball, dancing, pickleball, and everyone's favorite bowling. Every student had a blast! It was such a fun atmosphere and each one of the students felt welcomed.
Japanese Cultural Presentation
On February 13th, the 7th grade students were given the opportunity to attend a cultural presentation by the Japan America Society of Iowa out of Des Moines. This presentation aligned with the 7th grade culture unit where students researched the cultures of countries around the world. Students were presented with information about Japanese cultural elements such as food, clothing, and the Japanese language. We also learned about what school life is like for a typical student in Japan. Did you know that high school is not mandatory in Japan? Even so, 99% of the population attends.
Students ended the experience by engaging in a famous cultural Japanese tradition: origami, the Japanese art of paper folding. In celebration of the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday, students were taught how to create their very own paper hearts. Thank you to Mrs. Lybbertt for organizing a great experience.

ISASP Testing March 25-28
You will play an essential role in helping prepare your students for testing. Discuss the importance of these assessments with your student and assist him/her in approaching the tests with a positive attitude.
Please ensure your student:
Plans ahead to avoid conflicts in the testing schedule. Attendance is an extremely important factor in determining success.
Takes their time.
Maintains a consistent bedtime.
Eats breakfast and stays hydrated.
Ear buds - some tests may be read aloud, so earbuds will be needed if they'd like to take advantage of this opportunity.
