St Benedict's Catholic College
Benny's Bites - Friday 16 July 2021
Feast of St Benedict - 11 July
Benedict reminds us that we find our peace in God who is at the heart of it all. We are to place our hope in God alone. We count on prayer for help to find that peace in our hearts and to overcome all that we do to destroy it. It is God who helps us to be bringers of peace to others,
We begin with respect for the other. If we put the love of Christ before all else, he says, we will act accordingly, because we see Christ in the other.

Remote Learning
The current restrictions in place are determined by the NSW Health framework for responding to COVID-19.
What this means for you and your child.
Our priority will always be the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and our school community, and ensuring we provide the best possible faith and learning experience under the circumstances.
We can all continue to play our part in keeping our schools and one another safe, by following the direction of health authorities and letting the school know immediately if your child is self-isolating or undergoing testing and informing us of the result as soon as possible.
Our success during this difficult time will depend on our collective efforts, as a state and a nation, but also as a school community.
Throughout the pandemic, your support and appreciation for our teachers and other staff has been a source of great comfort and encouragement.
Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding as we once again adapt to the challenges presented by COVID-19.
We will continue to provide you with timely updates as the situation evolves. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office and we will do all we can to assist you.
It is important that parents and students keep abreast of all Compass notifications.
Students are encouraged to access remote learning from home.
The College will be open for students who have no other option, but in line with health advice we strongly encourage all families to keep children home wherever possible.
All students will have the same learning opportunity, regardless of whether they are accessing learning material from home or at a school. Students at school will be supervised by school staff to access the remote learning materials, but will not participate in traditional classroom learning.
Specific instructions will be delivered by your child’s teacher(s). This will include guidance on what learning material should be accessed and how to access it, as well as when and how interaction between students and teachers will take place.
HSC students will receive separate guidance regarding the support and access to school available to them.
If you have any concerns about your access to the internet or an appropriate learning device (e.g. laptop or iPad) please let the school office know as soon as possible and we will make
arrangements to support you.
With the exception of students, from the start of Term 3 every person who enters the school will need to sign in using the ServiceNSW app in addition to our existing iPad sign-in process. Parents/carers who are dropping off or picking up students outside the school gates do not need to sign in or use the Service NSW QR code.
Parents and carers and non-essential visitors are not permitted on the school site.
Enhanced high-touch cleaning will continue throughout Term 3.
Access to student lockers
With the recent local exposure sites we are asking that students do not come onto the school site to pick up any belongings from their locker. Staff have been made aware that some students may not have access to all their books.
Please feel free to contact the College if you require any assistance. Thank you for your support.
A reminder of our responsibilities on laptop usage at the College.
- At all times laptops should be carried in the school approved case and zipped up.
- Drinking next to a laptop is not permitted due to spillages. (This can be a costly repair).
