October is Anti-Bullying Month!
Meet Mrs. Matusz-Arroliga!
Bullying is something that happens at all grade levels, and middle school can seem like the worst of it for some students. One of the top three reasons that students are bullied is clothing. Either they are wearing clothing that is not “cool”, or they wear the same clothes too often. I have been a middle school teacher for 13 years, and nothing is more heartbreaking than seeing a student feel like they aren’t able to make friends if their lot in life doesn’t make brand-name clothes or a vast wardrobe possible. We teach our kids to be kind and to judge others by their character, not by their labels. However, the pressure on our students to conform to labels and styles can be the root of anxiety, stress, and even depression. I am taking a stand against bullying in the month of October. I will wear the same outfit every single day for the entire month. I will walk the halls in solidarity with those less fortunate, or those who feel like they are on the outside of the in-crowd. I invite your students to seek me out, in room 222, or to fist-bump me in the halls to support the cause. My hope is that by the end of the month, students won’t even notice my outfit anymore, and maybe then they will realize it is truly not what one wears, but what one has in character that defines us.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Matusz-Arroliga

Want to join our PTO?
We need you! Please email us if you are interested in joining our Razorback PTO! Have fun and help us make our 2021-2022 school year a great one!
Hello CRMS families and teachers to the new 2021-2022 school year. We are looking forward to seeing your smiling faces and walking down our hallways to a great year filled with learning new things, working together, and having a lot of fun! There are just a few topics we would like to go over prior to the new school year starting.
Chestnut Ridge PTO has a Facebook group that is very informative and an area to voice your questions or concerns. You can search for the group as TWP CRMS PTO. If you have any other questions or concerns and would rather reach out via email, then please contact us at Chestnutridgepto@gmail.com.
There is an attachment for the 2021/2022 PTO Membership Form. Our membership dues are affordable at $5 per family. Donating does not mean you have to volunteer, even though that is appreciated.
Your membership dues and support of /participation in our fundraisers allow us to provide many things for our students and teachers throughout the year. Community t-shirts, grade level funds, Recognition at the Ridge, 8th-grade ceremonies, 5th-grade orientation, among other things that may arise.
Last but not least, there have been a few changes to our Executive board along the way, but we're happy to say it has been finalized!
