Principal Message
Dear CompSci Families,
Happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week, and enjoyed the “extra” day of February. This week we wrapped up our Black History celebration with student and staff readings in the morning about their Black History Heroes. It has been a great month of learning for all of us. This week also was the end date for our Spring Fundraiser, so if you still have an envelope please make sure your child gets it in by Monday, so we can get the items delivered by Easter.
This week there was lots of good learning and fun here at school. Our 8th graders earned a trip to Spare Time for a day of bowling and arcade games. I have been told that Mr. Bradley is STILL the best bowler, but I have no evidence of that! Additionally, I saw 7th grade students in Spanish class fully embracing our theme by creating online story boards to demonstrate their conversational skills. Our 6th graders are also working hard in reading on their social justice book clubs and reading The Skin I’m In. Ask them about their learning!
The warm weather is a reminder that Spring is coming, and we have had a touch of “spring fever” here at school. This is perfectly normal, so we know how to handle it, but please remind your child that our (and your) expectations remain the same!

Equity Corner: Episode 18
Greetings Comp Sci Families!
This week our Student Equity Committee students, and some of our staff members as well, enjoyed their final week of announcements for Black History Month. Each announcement showcased a person that they admired and wanted to research and share with our school community. It was truly a wonderful way to connect as a school.
We are moving forward to celebrate Women’s History Month during the month of March.
We are excited to continue our work to make all students and individuals feel welcome here at Comp Sci Middle School.

Hello all, here is the rundown of week three’s February Frenzy Attendance Campaign! Winners of this week’s raffle prize (2/15/24 – 2/23/24) are: Arianna Acosta (6), Elias Pacheco (6), Laila Amadu (7), Jose Cahvez (7), Kenya Sousa Ferreira (8), and Gabriel Santana (8). BELL SCHEDULE FOR SY 2022-23
Students’ bell times is as follows: 7:20am -1:55pm (Full Day) and 7:20am – 10:45am (Half Day)
Picking up your child early
When picking up a student early from school, a note is required and should be given to the front desk Security Guard.
Parents/Guardians are to provide ID for verification when signing out any student. Anyone other than the parent/guardian
Who is asked to pick up a student must have the parent’s written permission; that individual is required to be in our
Emergency contact or be named in the note provided by parent—and will also need an ID.
Address Change Reporting
Help us keep our records current by reporting any changes to your child’s demographic information. Please complete the Address Change Form and bring in the necessary information to complete this process. Complete and return to Mrs. Rivera
In Guidance with any changes to your address and/or phone number. By doing this you will assist in jump starting your child’s bus stop change needs.

2022-2023 Transportation Reimbursement
Transportation Reimbursement is allotted for Families who reside outside of the CREC Transportation District & do not utilize CREC transportation in any way. Both criteria must be met to receive mileage reimbursement.
Lost & Found
Bins can be found in the 1st and 3rd floor offices, guidance and in the gymnasium. Bins are emptied the last Friday of the month.
Student lunch accounts
During SY 2023-24, through the Community Eligibility Commission (CEP), ALL students attending Comp-Sci will receive free meals.
**You will also need your child’s lunch identification number. If you need help locating your child’s number, please contact us.
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Annual Notice and Form
FERPA affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older ("eligible students") certain rights with respect to educational records.
Schools are asked to download and review the notices and Directory Information Word documents below, populate the required school-specific fields then message the notice and form home to families as an electronic PDF or paper copy in English and Spanish by Friday, December 22.
It is a federal requirement to send this information to families annually.
Parents should return completed forms to schools only if they request that the school obtain prior written consent before any "Directory Information" is disclosed or released about their child. (These forms are also on our website, here.)
