Paper White Bulb Experiment
This week Preprimary children each planted a paper white (narcissus) bulb in a plastic cup. Over the next two weeks they will continue to observe how roots emerge, as well as monitor, measure and record the stalks’ and perhaps flowers' growth.
Next week check out the bulletin board in the hall to see these exciting documentations!
As “homework” over the winter break, we will send this paper white experiment home so you can continue to record and observe how your child’s flower grown.
Recycling
Preprimary enjoyed listening to the informative book, Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel. We discussed how we recycle items at school and home. Following up Preprimary did two recycle/reuse art projects. They first used old (unsigned) easel paintings which had been cut into strips (rather than just thrown away) to create paper strip collages. Using the sides of old cardboard boxes as a base, the children create two different recycled structures. The first included such items as marker tops, yarn, and corks. The second used a variety of small boxes, yogurt containers, and paper towel tubes.
Today the children are bringing home a large shopping bag of art projects. Look for these recycling projects in the bag. At home have fun talking about ways your family recycles and reuses materials too.
Corn Muffins
Preprimary chefs made corn muffins this week. They carefully followed the directions to measure, mix, and pour the batter into the muffin pans. While baking the muffin aroma wafted from the kitchen and when cooled, the muffins were a delicious snack!
