A note from Mrs. Adrian's Desk
Cyclone Family,
Despite what looked like it could be challenging weather, our Friday PTO School Carnival was a success! We hope everyone who was able to attend had an amazing time! My time in the dunk tank was cold, but fun and I loved the smiles I saw on all the faces as they participated in all the activities! A special thanks to all of the volunteers and the PTO for making this night so special! As we enter the final month of the school year, please continue to check here to stay up to date on all of the happenings around EE! Let's make it a great week!
Take care!

2024-25 School Year Planning
The vision for Edgerton Elementary is to create learning experiences for every learner, every day, in every way. It is essential to establish a learning environment that promotes the academic success, personal growth, and general well-being of each and every child. As such, it is important we spend time ensuring that every child is placed in a classroom where he/she can thrive to his/her maximum potential. I will begin working closely with classroom, special education, and specialist teachers as we begin to focus upon classroom placement for the 2024-25 school year.
Parents/Guardians are reminded that a request for a specific teacher by name cannot be accepted. There are several reasons for this. For example, we could encounter a situation where the team feels two or more students should not be in the same class, yet their parents/guardians have requested the same teacher. Furthermore, there may be other reasons which prevent requested placement including confidential factors concerning other students. Additionally, last-minute staff changes may occur which might prevent placing a student in a specific classroom. Please understand that there is a lot of time and effort put into our class placements and we do the very best that we can to ensure that our students are placed appropriately.
**Additionally, please contact our office and let Mrs. Brittney know if your family has plans to move out of our Edgerton Elementary boundaries and you do not plan on attending next year. This helps with class placements!
Body Venture Volunteers Needed
Edgerton Elementary is one of only around 100 schools that Body Venture wo;; visit this year, thanks to KSDE’s Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) team. Body Venture is an enclosed, walk-through exhibit representing the human body. At each of the Body Venture’s 11 learning stations, a volunteer presenter engages students in an experiential and educational activity focused on healthy choices. It takes each group of students about an hour to complete the Body Venture experience. We will need volunteers to help set up the exhibit on Wednesday, May 1st right after school and then we will also need volunteers on Thursday, May 2 to help with stations. Please consider signing up to help our students experience this exhibit!

Calling our Seniors....Senior Walk at EE
Gardner Edgerton Youth Theatre Academy
Volleyball Camp
GEHS Fall Basketball Camps
Morning Drop off Ettiquette
We will be adding a stop sign to our crosswalk area to make it easier to see for everyone! We have some work being done this summer but until then, we believe this will help you see where our crosswalk is. We will be placing cones out in the AM, just like in the afternoon. Please pull up to the cone and drop your student off at that location. Once your student safely exits your car, please exit the lot. Do not pull around the other cars, please wait and leave in the order you drop off. We have students that exit on the drivers side of the car and it's not safe for cars to be pulling around. Our car line moves quickly....please be patient. If you need extra time with your student, please pull in front of the first cone (by the book box) and that way you will be out of the way for cars that want to pull around.
Please avoid stopping in the cross walk. It will be clearly marked with the stop sign. If parents/students are entering the cross walk, please stop and let them have the right of way to get safely to the building. Parents who need to escort students into the building, please park in the lot and have your students use the crosswalk to enter. Do not cross through the parking lot without using the crosswalk!
Thank you for your support as we continue to find ways to upgrade our safety for EE students and staff.

A Note from Nurse Lisa
Parents, please be aware that there are a lot of viruses going around right now in our school and community. It's a good idea to work on ways to boost your immune system. For example, eating a well balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, taking extra vitamin C, washing hands frequently and getting plenty of rest. If your child tests positive for influenza, please remember the Johnson County Health Department recommends they stay home 5 days from their first symptom. That helps cut down on exposing others here at school! Thank you and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
As a reminder, we are a latex free building, so no balloons or any other latex in the building. Also, our Kindergarten hallway is PEANUT FREE, as well as our 1st and 2nd grade hallways and our 3rd grade classrooms. 4th grade classes can have peanuts in their classrooms as long as everyone washes their hands well after eating and the food stays inside their classroom. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you!
