Solar Eclipse - Monday April 8, 2024
Although NJ is not in the path of totality, we will absolutely notice that the eclipse is occurring! On April 8, your child’s teacher will discuss the eclipse in class, including safe viewing of the eclipse. Please note regular sunglasses, swimming goggles, and most camera filters are NOT safe for looking directly at the Sun. You can safely protect your eyes with certified solar-viewing glasses, which can be purchased from a reputable provider. Make sure that on the back of the glasses, in small print, they say that they are ISO 12312-2 certified. Alternatively you can observe the Sun indirectly using the suggestions below:
Colander (from your kitchen) To use it during the eclipse, stand with your back to the Sun and hold up a colander so that the Sun’s light shines through it on the ground or a wall where there will be many tiny images of the eclipsed Sun in the Colander’s shadow.

The Books are Here!
After a long awaited backorder, I’m so excited to report that KRS has received ALL copies of our next book! Students will hear clues when they return back from break on Monday morning and try to figure out what Kings Road School will be reading for our next family literacy event! We have scheduled an all-school book unveiling right before the students leave on that scheduled half day. The oldest child in the family will receive a copy of the book right after Monday’s assembly and inside will be a pacing calendar. Try your best to keep up with the scheduled readings as a family so that the trivia questions asked will be fresh in your child’s mind!
Thank you as always you our amazing PTO who has generously funded this family event for the past 5 years! We couldn’t do it without you! ~ Mrs. Sims

April is Autism Acceptance Month
April is Autism Acceptance Month.
We want to let you all in on what we have found in the Autism community, so that you can help us spread the word!
One thing that we have found is that we should really be calling April Autism Acceptance Month. It is time to move forward from being “aware” of autistic individuals and move towards accepting them. We will now be celebrating Autism ACCEPTANCE Month in April along with the autism community! We hope you will join us.
We would like to wear RED on April 12th to support the autism community. In many cultures, the color red represents love, good luck, joy, and celebration.
