June Joys!
This weekend we went camping up in the mountains near our home. It was so beautiful and when we remembered to spray the homemade bug deterrent on we didn't have issues, but I forgot the last day and I got a friendly little tick on me. I applied correct x after I got him off me.
Last year, the mosquitos might as well have been vampires. We are looking into getting some bat houses put up, to help with the bug problem, as well. We didn't get bit by anything in the mountains, but we haven't even seen mosquitoes here, yet.
With gardening, I am looking into using natural pest control as well. Last year our tomatoes had a bad fungus, in which we ended up using harsh chemicals for. I have read into using diluted peppermint essential oil and spraying it on the plants. There is a commercial organic farm in Idaho that had amazing results.
This month we celebrate Father's. The farmer hubby is so well deserving of something nice. I plan on giving him regular massages throughout the summer months to help relax him. I will probably use the massage blend, because it is one of his favorites and helps soothe and relax him. Need more ideas? Read on.

Testimonials
-Nausea from a , motion sickness, or a headache? When my headaches get really bad I sniff cardamom and put one drop in my mouth. It works better for me than peppermint. When I ran out awhile back and didn't realize it, I found that sucking on a Breathe lozenge (has cardamom) helped tremendously.
-I get repeat horrific headaches (migraine style) pretty easily. I have found that I am not getting as many since starting the lifelong vitality supplements.
-Female issues? One person started the lifelong vitality supplements to support over all health and found that her monthly cycles became regular and every 28 days like clockwork, for the first time in many years.
Eat More Garlic! Here is why:
A 1 ounce (28 grams) serving of garlic contains (3):
- Manganese: 23% of the RDA.
- Vitamin B6: 17% of the RDA.
- Vitamin C: 15% of the RDA.
- Selenium: 6% of the RDA.
- Fiber: 1 gram.
- Decent amounts of Calcium, Copper, Potassium, Phosphorus, Iron and Vitamin B1.
Garlic supplementation helps to prevent and reduce the severity of common illnesses like the flu and common cold.
High doses of garlic appear to improve blood pressure of those with known high blood pressure (hypertension). In some instances, supplementation can be as effective as regular medications.
Garlic supplementation seems to reduce total and LDL cholesterol, particularly in those who have high cholesterol. HDL cholesterol and triglycerides do not seem to be affected.
Garlic contains antioxidants that protect against cell damage and ageing. It may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Garlic can improve physical performance in lab animals and people with heart disease. Benefits in healthy people are not yet conclusive.
Garlic appears to have some benefits for bone health by increasing estrogen levels in females, but more human studies are needed.
How to grow your own garlic
- To grow garlic indoors, all you need is one good garlic head.
- Fill a large pot with potting soil, then break garlic cloves apart and sow each clove vertically into the soil at a depth of 1 inch.
- Cover all the cloves with soil. There should be about 1 inch of soil over all the cloves. Place the pot in an area that gets plenty of direct sunlight.
- Like any indoor plant, keep a eye on the soil and water it when it starts to dry out.Clip off the greens when they are about 3 – 4 inches tall, leaving about an inch or so for it to re-grow. Eventually, the greens will stop growing.
- When it turns brown and dries up, dig the clove of garlic you planted and you should have a full bulb. Take a clove from that and start over!
Too HOT?
Frozen Essential Oil Washcloth
Put a couple cups of water in a container.
Add about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil to the water and stir. (Eucalyptus was a suggestion.)
One at a time, submerge the towel in the water-oil mixture, and squeeze out the excess liquid. Fold in half then roll it up.
Place on a cookie sheet in a single layer and place them in the freezer.
Freeze until solid (it took mine a couple hours). To enjoy, place the frozen towel on your face, head, or wherever you need a bit of cooling. I found that it is better to use it rolled up and slowly unroll it as it thaws as opposed to trying to open it up right away because the coolness lasted longer that way.
