Hello, Sabercats and Families!
Happy Snow Day! I hope you're staying safe and warm out there.
In order to balance instructional time over our seven periods and in alignment with the other DCSD Comprehensive High Schools, we will shift Friday, March 29 to a BLACK DAY (Periods 5, A, 6, & 7).
I hope you have a great, safe, and happy Spring Break. And as always, thank you for sharing your kids with us; it is our honor to serve them.

Instructional Time Make Up
Because of these two snow closures on Mar 14 and 15, we need to make up some instructional time to meet funding requirements for the state. To avoid having to return to school after Memorial Day, we have created an Advisement period on the morning of Graduation from 7:40-9:40. We will need to take attendance that morning; however, parents and guardians are welcome to excuse your students. You can view the updated Semester Two Finals Schedule HERE.
Prom Eligibility
The Prom Eligibility period is March 4 - April 15. In order to be eligible to attend prom -- as an upperclassman or underclassman guest-- Sabercats must:
- Attend at least 80% of their courses, including Advisement.
- Maintain passing grades in most of their classes (with no more than 1 F by April 15).
- Refrain from behavior that earns a suspension.
Essential Testing Information for All Students
Because all state assessment has moved to a digital platform, CVHS must ensure that we have access to enough school-controlled devices to administer tests to all students.
Right now, based on the number of students who intend to test, we will need to collect all school-issued Chromebooks from students on March 29, 2024, in order to image and update those machines before testing the week of April 15th.
You can help us determine how many devices we need by excusing your student from testing as soon as possible if they do not intend to take PSAT 9, PSAT 10, SAT, or CMAS-Science. Please use this form to do so. It is essential we have this information as soon as possible!
Spring 2024 State-Mandated SAT, PSAT 10, PSAT 9, and CMAS Testing
Please mark your calendars for the following Spring 2024 mandatory assessment dates. Here is the Spring Assessment Schedule.
SAT School Day for JUNIORS- Tuesday, April 16th at 7:40am
CMAS Science for JUNIORS- Wednesday, April 17th at 7:40am
PSAT 10 for SOPHOMORES- Wednesday, April 17th at 7:40am
PSAT 9 for FRESHMEN- Thursday, April 18th at 7:40am
Students are automatically signed up for these assessments by the state. Families do not need to sign their student(s) up for these assessments.
AP Exam Volunteer Opportunity
Spring 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) Exams- Volunteer Help Needed!
Attention CV Parents and Adult Guardians! We are in search of many adult volunteers to proctor Advanced Placement exams in mid-May 2024. Volunteer proctors will allow our teachers and special service providers to stay in classrooms helping students learn rather than proctoring half-day exams.
Commitment: One 90-minute training in mid-April 2024 and one four-hour morning or afternoon session May 6-10 or 13-17, 2023. All training will be provided. You are welcome to proctor more than one exam if you are available and willing.
Please fill out the AP Proctor Interest form below if you are able to help out the CV community!
