BHS GROW BUCKS - SENSORY GARDEN
Happy spring 2024!! The sun is shining, seeds are now being planted, and we are grooving - it’s gonna be good!! Today we planted common and red milkweed. These senior garden advisors probably won’t get to see them bloom, because most take a year to root/sprout, then a year to really grow to bloom. We are hoping for the best germination since we froze these seeds for a month before planting. Since these are perennial natives, they are planting a legacy that will be around for a long time. Grow, babies, grow!
FCCLA - NMS BUILDING BUDDIES

ART CLUB FIELD TRIP
What's the best part of BHS Art Club? Creating beautiful things, exploring museums on field trips, learning about cultures, and chilling with all your artsy friends.
The Friday before Spring Break the Art Club took a field trip to the Huntsville Art Museum & Lowe Mill Arts Center and had so much fun!! Students created drawings of Big Spring Park, fed the fish, learned how to interrupt artwork, learned about why different cultures created art throughout history and explored the largest privately owned art center in the Southeastern United States!! Thanks, @hsvmuseumart & @lowemillarts for an incredible day!!
BASS FISHING JUNIORS - NATIONAL FINALISTS

This is the first ever team for Buckhorn to qualify for Nationals!!!!!! We are super proud of you!
ELK'S LODGE AWARDED GRANT FOR BHS CARE CLOSET
Huntsville Elk's Lodge, Kathy Pierce, and Mike West, submitted to two of our Alabama State Representatives for a grant request. This grant would fill the needs pantry closets at Buckhorn High School and Morris Elementary during the school year. The Alabama Representatives Rex Reynolds and Phillip Rigsby presented Pierce with a combined $2500.00 in grants for Huntsville Elks Lodge No.1648 Alabama to administer. Pierce and West will be looking to fill these needs within the next couple of weeks.
Thanks to all of those mentioned above for helping Huntsville Elks Lodge to fulfill the pledges for the underserved students within these two community schools!

Sign Up to Round Up!
The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! By rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar each month, you help invest in the future of our students!
You can easily sign up to round up online:
https://www.hsvutil.org/community_resources/programs/sign_up_to_round_up.php
It might be a penny, it might be 25 cents, it might be 99 cents, but it will be no more than $11.88 a year. It takes less than 1 minute to fill out.
Thank you for supporting one of our community partners! Go Bucks!
