Know What You're Doing
When performing First Aid or CPR, make sure you have a basic idea of what you're doing.
If you don't that's okay! You will learn some basics that save lives. Take a look below for some simple facts about CPR.
For Adults and Children
For both adults and Children, make sure to have the bottom of your hand pressing against their sternum, the bone in between their ribs right above the torso. After that, intertwine your fingers so that one hand is on top of the other as if holding hands with yourself.
CPR on Children
Compressing the sternum is very important and the amount is an even greater factor. For children make sure to compress their chest down by 1/2 inches every press down. Do 30 compressions included by 2 breaths until arrival of Ambulance.
CPR on Adults
For adults, the sternum needs to be compressed down by 2 inches. This repeated motion is followed by 2 breaths every 30 compressions. Do that until Ambulance arrives.
Airway
If individual isn't breathing, pinch their nose with your thumb and forefingers and breath into their mouth. The goal is to have their chest rise and go back down 2 times every 30 compressions.
Pulse
To find a pulse, put your middle and index fingers together and press them on the patient's Cartoid Artery. That is the classic spot on the neck. If there's no pulse, proceed with CPR immediately. If there is one, ask if the patient is okay.
