Matt's Message
Kia Ora Whānau
With the days ticking past quickly, I would like to draw your attention to the upcoming events notice in this newsletter. As a school we want to ensure that you, our community are completely informed of the events and activities your children are involved in, especially as we move into this very busy time of the year for us all.
While the next two weeks are outlined below, I would also like to remind you that the last day for the year is Thursday December 15th where we will only have a 1/2 day at school. School will finish on the 15th @ 12:00pm Midday! We ask that you put this into your diary and make the necessary plans to have your tamariki collected early that day.
The last couple of weeks have been really enjoyable to watch and be involved in our Motiti and Tuhua swimming sports, our classes continuing to go to the Pāpāmoa surf club for beach ed and different sports teams, including our cricketers, out and about with Paige around the city at events. It is these opportunities that make school memorable for tamariki.
While these events are still happening, it is important to know that our literacy and numeracy programmes are still in full swing within classrooms. While meeting new parents to the area and showing them around our kura, its great to walk through classroom and see your children actively engaged in their learning, whether it is structured literacy, writing or maths. This time of year can be a challenge for staff to keep routines and systems happening in their classrooms with so much happening, but our team of teachers and support staff are doing a great job.
As we build to the end of the year, the Motiti team are working towards their end of year leavers assembly. Specific details for our year 6 whānau will be coming out from classroom teachers in the near future so please keep an eye out for this.
I would like to also draw your attention to the Coast Kids IN SCHOOL flyer in this newsletter. Coast kids will be offering an alternative on site (at Pāpāmoa School) before and after school care facility from the beginning of 2023. This will be a different offering hosted onsite for Pāpāmoa school children only. Please keep an eye out for more details as they emerge over the coming weeks.
Like you all, I hope this mad weather passes us soon and we can enjoy some fine sunny days. I look forward to seeing many of you around school in the coming weeks.
Ngā mihi
Matt
