Nitrogen
All About Nitrogen
Facts
The atomic number of Nitrogen is 7. The mass number is 14, and the element symbol is 'N'. There are 7 protons, 7 neutrons, and 7 electrons. It is in period 2, group 15. Nitrogen is a gas and is found in soil, water, air, and all organisms.
It is used as a coolant and also used to create ammonia which in turn is used to create many different things. Nitrogen is a non-metal. Two similar elements are Phosphorus, and Arsenic (rat poison).
Two interesting facts about nitrogen: You can use it to cool down ice cream. Nitrogen is believed to be the 7th most abundant element in the entire universe
Bohr Model of a Nitrogen Atom
Bohr models are used for visualizing the interior of an atom and to show the amount of subatomic particles an element possesses on an atomic scale.
In a nitrogen atom, there are 7 of each subatomic particle.
Liquid Nitrogen
Liquid nitrogen is primarily used as a coolant, and a key ingredient in explosives.
