Park Terrace Elementary
April 21, 2021 Newsletter
Hello Park Terrace Families!
I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! It is hard to believe but we are rapidly approaching the start of MCA testing season for our 3rd and 4th grade students. As a reminder, please note that testing will occur on the following days:
- Math: April 27 and 28 (make up days of April 29 and 30)
- Reading: May 4 and 5 (make up days of May 6 and 7)
I want to share a couple of important reminders for families of 3rd and 4th grade students who will be testing on those dates to help set our students up for success:
- Be sure students get a good night sleep before the test dates.
- Be sure to send students with a fully charged iPad, headphones, charging cord and charging brick.
- Encourage students to eat a big breakfast before the test to keep their energy up.
- Perhaps most important of all: Be positive and encourage your student to do their best!
This week, we are experiencing a very emotional time in our community with the verdict yesterday in the Derek Chauvin case and the recent death of Daunte Wright. Please know that we are here to provide support to students and families as these events continue to unfold in our community and across our nation. Partnership between schools, communities, and families is an essential component to taking care of our children. If families have questions, concerns or are in need of resources, please do not hesitate to reach out to our schools.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our students and staff during this school year. I am looking forward to getting our MCA testing underway!

Updates for Extended Flex Learning families
Greetings,
It has been a pleasure to visit our distance learning classrooms the last few weeks. Students have been experiencing virtual fieldtrips and guest speakers through WebEx. The learning experiences have been active and engaging with lessons that encourage students to make connections with what they are learning in school and the world around them.
My biggest joy in visiting our virtual classrooms is in recognizing the strong sense of community students and teachers have created through the online learning model. The climate of care, respect and safety among each group is evident and has grown throughout the year.
Distance learning teachers and I will continue to partner with you to ensure your child feels safe and cared for. Please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns.
As always, I hope you’ll take time to read the entire newsletter for important information and updates this spring.
Take care,
Kimberly Fehringer
