A MESSAGE FROM MRS. OGLESBY
We had an incredible week as we recognized Pediatric Cancer Awareness and "Turn It Gold" with our spirit days last weeks. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram for pictures from each of our themed days and other school events. We also had one of our largest PTO meetings last Wednesday and are so thankful for the parents that give up their time to serve and plan different ways to support our students and our school. We want to say thank you to our PTO and everyone that donated and made the "Sunshine Salad Bar" a huge success. Our staff absolutely loved the salad bar! Thank you!
If you are looking for more ways to donate and get involved, we currently have several opportunities for you. Throughout the year we will have various needs and opportunities for parents to assist on campus. If you are interested in volunteering, please be sure that you have completed the FBISD Volunteer Application & Background Check. Currently, we are looking for parent volunteers to help at our school dance that will be held on Friday, September 30th. If you are interested in helping out, please be sure to sign up here.
We also have a list of supplies that have been requested by teachers to help as they lead students through various activities during our Wednesday advisory time. Students have signed up for classes including fashion design, rocket building, French, karaoke, creative writing, gardening, and various other activities. We would greatly appreciate any used or new items that you may be able to donate. Please take a look at the list and sign up if you are able.
As we prepare for our Homecoming Week, September 26-30, I also want to provide you with information related to tickets that will be on sale for the Pep Rally and the Homecoming Dance. Tickets for the Pep Rally will be sold at school on Monday, 9/26, and all grade-levels will have an opportunity to buy tickets. All students are invited to attend the dance and tickets for the Homecoming Dance will be sold beginning September 28th. Tickets will not be sold at the entrance to either event and there is a limited number of tickets. Students will have an opportunity to buy tickets during their lunch and before school on the day of the event. Any student that has outstanding fines for books, cell phones, cafeteria accounts, school laptops, or athletic equipment, will not be permitted to buy a ticket until the fines are paid. Please remember that fines that are not paid carry over from year to year so we ask that you ensure that your student is in good standing with all accounts.
We are looking forward to another great week! Don't forget that this Friday, September 23rd, is a student holiday. Have a great week Jags!
Sincerely,
Cholly Oglesby
Principal

EVENTS & UPDATES
Level Change Requests
Students wishing to request a level change can do so, by getting the level change request form, located outside of the Student Center. Any student wishing to level down (go from AAC to grade level course) must be making a 74 or lower in their classes and must have had a conference with the teacher before the request will be reviewed. Students wishing to level up (go from a grade level course to an AAC) must be successfully passing their grade level course. Counselors also take into consideration students' past academic performance in that subject as well as teacher recommendation for students wishing to level up. All level changes are contingent upon space and availability of the requested course. There is no guarantee that a level change will be granted and the students' current courses and teachers could change. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your students grade level counselor.

Fort Bend ISD is hosting three community information sessions this month on the Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election, which will generate additional revenue for the district while sustaining the current tax rate.
During its August 22 regular business meeting, the FBISD Board of Trustees approved the Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) which will fund police officers at every elementary campus, increase employee compensation and maintain educational programs of choice. The VATRE will appear on the ballot in the upcoming November 8, 2022 election.
The information sessions will give community members an opportunity to receive detailed information about the VATRE and ask any questions they may have. All FBISD community members are welcome to attend.
Spanish translators will be available at all three sessions. A sign language interpreter will be available at the September 26 session held at Dulles High School’s Rodgers Auditorium.
Below are the VATRE community information session dates and locations:
- Wednesday, September 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Austin High School in the auditorium (3434 Pheasant Creek Drive, Sugar Land, 77498).
- Monday, September 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dulles High School’s Rodgers Auditorium (550 Dulles Avenue, Sugar Land, 77478).
- Wednesday, September 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hightower High School in the auditorium (3333 Hurricane Lane, Missouri City, 77459).
