#CelebrateMonday
October 8, 2018
I hope you all had a chance to do something you really love this weekend!
When we consider balance (that thing called work-life balance), that means that we have to find ways to take time to do something we love and enjoy doing! It's not always easy to do that - but it's essential for our well-being.
And, if we're being honest, our ability to work toward balance and find time to do the things we love is essential for the well-being of those with whom we interact at work each day!
And for good reason! We are servant leaders! We want to ensure that our people are well taken care of and that they have what they need to do their jobs well. It's not a comfortable thought to put aside those emails, calls, etc. especially when we perceive that could have a negative impact on those who are counting on us.
But if we aren't careful the work becomes all that we do.
Sometimes, we aren't able to make those decisions - we aren't in control. That's why it is supremely important for us to be able to make the decision to set work aside and/or to move on from something when we can and do have that control!
Sometimes that means we have to put structures and schedules in place to force ourselves to put aside the work and participate in other things that give our lives meaning.
What do you do to help keep your life in balance? To share your answer, please go to my Answer Garden page (this tool was recently introduced to me by Nichole Nolan after she used it with MS/HS social studies teachers. It could be a great preassessment/formative assessment tool or a great way to engage students at the beginning of a lesson/unit!).

You only have 40 characters, so word your responses wisely! And feel free to add more than one!
We are all such dedicated leaders and we are all so incredibly busy, we will definitely benefit from reading the thoughts and actions of our colleagues! Please take a moment to share!
And when you've taken the opportunity to bring balance to your day/week/life, continue the #CelebrateMonday by celebrating that success!
And in the midst of all of that - don't forget to make this the best Monday of the week!
Cheers!
