REMINDERS
NO PARKING AT THE DAYCARE
The Valley Learning Center Daycare/Preschool has contacted Star Elementary about parents parking in their parking lot to wait for students to get out of school. Please DO NOT park there. Parents of daycare children are not able to park and pick up their kiddos due to taken parking spots. We appreciate your assistance.
Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up
**Reminder - Please do not use the parking lot closest to the office for drop off and pick up. This lane is for busses only! Thank you.**
When dropping off your student in the morning, please use the drop-off lane in front of the school (in front of the new addition). Please pull all the way forward to drop your child off between the asphalt drive and the front of the drop-off lane. Students should have everything ready to go, otherwise our drop off lane will get backed up onto Star Road. If you want to walk your child up to the school doors, you will need to park in a parking space or across the street in the park. Please use crosswalks when walking your child across the street and parking lot.
When picking up your student at the end of the day, students and parents should have a prearranged and agreed upon location to meet. For the safety of our students the city of Star, ACHD, Ada County Sheriff’s Department and the school ask that we do not park on Star Road. There is a bike lane, and it is also a no parking zone. If you use the pick-up lane, you must pull all the way forward and remain in your car and your student will meet you at the curb. Traffic can get backed up all the way to State Street, so we must be diligent in following our procedures.
ATTENDANCE & TARDINESS
To ensure as much learning as possible occurs during the school day, students need to arrive on time and be in attendance for the entire school day. The first bell rings at 9:05 a.m. (9:20 a.m. on Wednesday Late Start) with teaching and learning starting right away. We know and understand some absences cannot be avoided. In those situations, we ask that you call the school office by 9:00 a.m.
STUDENT TRANSPORTATION
If you need assistance from the transportation department, click on the ticket and you will be directed to the West Ada Transportation Website. Here you can find the Transportation APP - Traversa Ride 360, Find My Stop, Bus Zones, and a link for submitting a HelpDesk Ticket. Use the HelpDesk Ticket to report behavior problems or bus incidents, find a route, report a late bus, the need for transportation, safety concerns, unlocated students, or an emergency.
UNDERSTANDING GRADES
The standards-based grading system can be difficult to understand for many since this is often different than previous ways of grading. Follow the directions below to find district information to gain a better understanding of your child's grades.
