Thursday Updates
Every Thursday (occasionally it's a Friday) we send out a weekly update and reminder of any events in the upcoming week(s) at The Galvin. Below are next week's upcoming events.

Friday Night Lights
As our school year gets into full swing, many middle school students start attending school sanctioned events that are not always held at or chaperoned by the Galvin Middle School such as Friday night football games, hockey games, concerts and more. Attending these events is an age appropriate step for middle schoolers and we want to encourage our students to participate in these opportunities in responsible ways.
When your student chooses to attend one of these school-sponsored events, please talk with him/her/them about appropriate and responsible behaviors that promote a positive climate and remind your child that all school rules apply to all school- and district-sanctioned events. Your student’s behavior at each of these events falls under the GMS Code of Conduct found in the GMS Student and Family Handbook.
In addition, students should not bring backpacks to CHS football games and we, along with Canton High School staff, encourage you to have at least one adult stay with each group of students that attends the event. Thank you for partnering in this to ensure a safe and fun experience for all!
FIT-4-FUND$
FIT-4-FUNDS has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 10th. (rain date will be Friday, October 11th). We are getting closer to our goal and donations are still being accepted
FIT-4-FUND$ is our C.A.P.T. organization's ONLY fundraiser of the year! FIT-4-FUND$ is a joint effort that brings our TEAM - school community, parents, teachers, and students - together. "Together, We Achieve More!"
We ask that families encourage student participation and donate $60.00 per family. Held at the Galvin, FIT-4-FUND$ asks each student to choose a wellness-based event: WALKING, BIKING, ROLLERBLADING, SKATEBOARDING, FLAG FOOTBALL, SHOOTING HOOPS, YMCA BOOT CAMP, and collect pledges. Each child received a FIT-4-FUND$ packet which includes the pledge sheet and an envelope. All pledge sheets and money are due back to your child's homeroom teacher.
Families are now able to donate online to FIT-4-FUND$. On the GMS web site please use the drop down menu under FAMILIES, click on CAPT, and there is a separate FIT-4-FUND$ link for donations. Please do not log into your existing School Bucks store as the donation link is separate.
In addition, all 8th grade students who raise money will earn money toward the cost of their eighth grade trip at the end of the school year.
We welcome all parents/guardians to watch on event day, October 10, 6th grade-8:30-10:15, 8th grade-10:30-11:45, 7th grade-12:30-2:10. We also need volunteers help at the water stations. It promises to be a fun day for all!!!!

GMS 5th Annual Cultural Heritage Night
Dear GMS Families,
We are excited to share that this year GMS's 5th Annual Cultural Heritage Night will be held on Thursday October 17, 2019 from 6pm-8pm.
GMS will host the 5th annual Cultural Heritage Night (#CHN) to showcase and celebrate the many cultures within our school and community. #CHN is a school wide event.
We will again showcase performances (dance, music, and singing), have a tasting of foods from around the world, and offer amazing, engaging activities.
Please come out and help make this event another resounding success.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
We ask that all families bring a dish from your heritage to be included in the tasting menu. We are asking for a dish that would serve 5+ persons and is commonly consumed within your culture.
Please note that you may provide ingredients on the dish, but if you have allergies or food restrictions please take caution when partaking in the food portion of this event.
Please use this RSVP link to let us know what you will be bringing to the night. Please contact Ms. Amy Muldoon, GMS Student Services Coordinator, via email: muldoona@cantonma.org with any questions.
