Triathlon
Triathlon is a multi-disciplines sport involving swimming, cycling and running.
Triathlete compete in the 3 disciplines in immediate succession.
The word triathlon comes from the Greek world, tries means three and athlos means sport.
Triathlon races have different distances.
Adults:
1. Sprint – 750 meter swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run.
2. Olympic – 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 run.
3. Long course – 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21.1 km run (half marathon)
4. ITU long distance – 4 km swim, 100 km bike and 30 km run.
5. Iron man – 3/8 km swim, 180.2 bike and 42.2 run (full marathon)
kids:
1. Age 8 – 9 – 100 meters swim, 3 km bike and 1 km run.
2. Age 10 – 11 – 200 meters swim, 6 km bike and 1.5 km run.
3. Age 12 – 13 – 300 meters swim, 8 km bike, 2 km run.
4. Age 14 – 15 – 500 meters swim, 12 km bike, 3 km run.
Triathlon has begun in 1920 in France. It is represented at the Olympics since the Sydney and at the Paralympics.
