Parent-Teacher Conferences are THIS WEEK!
Conferences are a very important time of year. When our students know their teachers and parents are working on the same team to help them grow as learners, it boosts their confidence even more! Our goal is 100% participation.
Our instructional coaches will be available to meet with you while you are in the building to answer any questions, and show you how to access your child's account on Mastery Connect and Istation; and to help you understand your child's FAST scores.
If you would like to meet with one of our specials teachers, please call the office to schedule a time to meet with them; or you can drop in to see them while you are in the building.
- Mrs. Polston, librarian, will be at MCE Thursday and Friday
- Mrs. Jones, art, will be at MCE on Thursday

Harvest Parties - October 31st
Parties are scheduled for 2:30 on October 31.
Students will be allowed to dress as their favorite book character for the day. We will not allow time to change at school. We ask that the costumes are school dress code appropriate and that there are No Mask, No Weapons, No Gore, and No Blood.
Snacks during the party need to be store bought, pre-packaged and preferably healthy. Other items such as pencils, stickers, etc are always welcome. It is acceptable to send home a small treat bag of individually wrapped treats. Please refrain from sending items with icing as this could cause major messes on the bus.

A Note from our Instructional Coaches
Happy Fall,
Wow! Can you believe we just finished the first quarter of the 2018-2019 school year? Your child has been working diligently on reading goals in their classroom. We will be providing some sources for you throughout the year, on ways you can support your child in reading. As you know, reading is the key to success.
Once you learn to read, you will be forever free. —Frederick Douglass
Parent Pipeline is a great resource from: The CAFE Book, written by Gail Boushey & Joan Moser and created by Allison Behne © www.thedailycafe.com. This is a wonderful source that our teachers use, which provides support for the home. Many times parents want to know what they can do at home to help their child in reading. There are many strategies to check comprehension, one example is Check for Understanding. Below is the Parent Pipeline for more information on the Check for Understanding strategy.
We look forward to seeing you at Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you have any questions regarding FastBridge, IStation, or Mastery Connect, we will be happy to help.
Sincerely,
Laura Allen

Handbook and Social Media Forms
We also must have your signed permission before we are allowed to include your student's picture in any posts on social media pertaining to MCE. We love to celebrate the learning happening at MCE, and we do this by sharing pictures.
Please return the signed permission form to your child's teacher as soon as possible, if you have not done so.
Help us ensure your child's safety at the end of the day!
If you need to make a change to your child’s normal routine you must send a note with your child in the morning. If it is an emergency, you must call and speak to a secretary before 2pm. Do not leave a message on the school answering service. The answering service is to report absences only, and it is not checked throughout the day.
We will not make any changes after 2pm. Our goal is to get every student safely to their correct destination at the end of each day. We need your help to make sure this happens.
You must opt in to receive text messages from School Messenger
